Re: I've been thinking...

If that was the case, then what could they possibly have been searching? The site is just full of garbled mystery codes, and some insider jargon...

I don't know about the whole shoutcast thing. There's another one at eon8.com:9000 which the stream url goes to http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/
maybe these are just random things or they are for other people being hosted on the same server by the hosting company.

I know that the whole world is interested, hundreds of forums and blogs and whatnot are crawling with eon8, but the question of the day is WHERE did eon8 come from? Who first found it. Who first said'Hey, let's check this out.'

Has anyone considered that this is more than a viral marketing campaign but the creation of a standalone complex? The whole idea of viral marketing, especially in such a blank slate such as Eon8, really seems to resonate to me.

I haven't done anything like this since Majestic, but I'm gonna have to cruise Unfiction a little more and see what's out there.[/url]

Though it may not have any relevance to the real world, this definitely has a real world instigator that knows more about this whole phenomenon than we all do...

The idea of a standalone complex got expanded upon to the Individual Eleven, the idea of a single attempt to control subconsciousnesses. This evolved from the GitS: SAC society (e.g. a time when, if all human consciousnesses that were connected were to coalesce into a single form, individual humans could not yet form the elements of a greater complex) wherein human beings are highly cybernetic and the normal, un-cyborg body is the exception rather than the rule, but isn't this just a manipulation of human behavior in the spirit of a collective unconscious/shared cultural experience?

Billy,

There's much out there to read about the connection, but here's a snippet from ARGN:

Quote:
I Love Bees spawned mainstream interest when a link to www.ilovebees.com faded in at the end of a Halo 2 theatrical trailer, cue a mass influx of new players; little did they suspect they were skimming the surface of the ARG World. Many found their way to the Unfiction boards, and the rudimentary "HALO 2" threads manifested in abundance.

It's quite interesting reading if you're so inclined. Wink

**EDIT**

Does anyone else feel Eon8 is reminescent of "War Games?"
