[EVENT] M. David Benson at Burning Man

From today's ITE post:

I know that the Apollo giveaways have been less than successful in some places. The street teams HAVE been upping their game, but now Santa Monica's kicked them out and Harrisburg has threatened them with arrest.

But, despite that, it looks like Apollo has upped their game ONCE again. I've just received word that Apollo founder, M. David Benson, will be at BURNING MAN this weekend.

IF you can find him, I'm told he will have special prizes.

I don't know what he looks like - but I'm told to age the blond haired boy on the front page a few years.

I will be at Dragon*Con this weekend, and I got my mitts on some Golden Oracle bars. If you want them, stay tuned for the secret password!

Until next time.

While this makes for a good opportunity for a social gathering, I would consider this to be an in-game event if a character will be making an appearance. The "off-topic" forum is good for planning carpools and places to meet-up. The "updates" forum is good for following whatever character interaction comes of this.

So move it to the other section.

By the way, for the Burning Man event, according to the website, tickets cost $350 at the gate and must be purchased by 11PM tonight.

Also, as noted above, Speaker claims that he himself will be present and giving away Apollo Candy at Dragon*Con.

Did anyone ever find M. David Benson? If so, please post about your experience here.

I'm guessing that nobody following this game was at Burning Man.

The only thing I can find on the internet is "Oh, he'll be there this weekend!" But... nobody seems to know anything about it, nor has, y'know, Speaker said anything.

Maybe it wasn't a great idea to promote the founder/CEO of a company owned by an evil corporation in a fictional game created by a giant media conglomerate at an anti-corporate and -establishment event costing $350 after the tickets stopped being on sale.

Or something.

Anyone have any idea if he was there? I may not be playing the game any more, but I'm still keeping tabs on what's happening Smile

I just talked to a friend of mine who *was* at Burning Man, and he says "didn't see anyone giving out Apollo bars... but did get a hot dog, and some Ben and Jerry's ice cream - from Ben and/or Jerry himself" (he wasn't sure which one, just knew that it was one of the creators).

So... not conclusive since Burning Man is a rather large event anymore... but certainly bends it more towards the "negative".
