This sort of puzzle is hard to give gradual hints for, but I'll try.

For the color puzzle:

1st hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You must know the colors by their proper names.

2nd hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The colors of the bands are green, yellow, purple, silver (the name in old HTML for the shade of gray in the VGA palette), and yellow.

3rd hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It really does matter that you think of the fourth band as silver...

4th hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
...because silver starts with an S.

Count Me In!

Judging from what they've said in regards to the last blog post, they're trying to improve prior mistakes.

That's the kind of thing that sets my optimistic streak to hum. I'm in.

The puzzles seem pretty easy. Standard, too; a few deviations from the "Training" bits, along with some that come straight from the courses.

Also, I got a response to the question "What kind of "dire consequences" can one expect if one attunes themselves too quickly to the spirit world?"

Quote:
It seems like a silly statement, does it not? There you are, hundreds or thousands of miles away, connecting to them through the internet. Not so! The spirit world touches all times, all places. When you take a step towards a spirit, they take a step towards you as well. If you are not prepared for the connection one of you will pull the other into their world. The result would not be pleasant for either of you.

But do not let my warnings concern you! I have many years of experience introducing people to the spirit world, and my methods ensure that the "consequences" never occur. You are safe in my hands.

The quick response (less than 12 hours), all in the same vein as the characterization demands, has me sold.

What'd you guys get for your answers?

I asked Madame Z
Quote:
Which advisor do you use most? (I know there's no "right" answer for everyone.)

Her answer:
Quote:
An excellent question. Like mortal men and women, spirits have a wide range of interests and knowledge. For example, I seek Nickolas's advice on financial matters. However, in the matter of friend-finding, they are all well-suited. I do not want to throw you into the abyss without a lamp, though, so later this week I will release more information to help you decide who you are most compatible with.

I recieved my response also - some good intelligence in it we can use.

Who or what haunts Wylie House?

Quote:
Why, my houseguest and I haunt the Wylie house, always drifting in and out of its many rooms...

Oh, you meant the spirits! My, and soon your, spiritual advisors are spirits in fact as well as name. They have broken away from the mortal coil but remain close enough to the physical plane to converse with. Soon, I will put up a part of the site that will allow you to learn more about them.

Not all of "my" spirits live in the Wylie house, though. One spirit, Stanley Schekles, "haunts" other parts of Bay Horse, and merely connects to Perfect Friends Forever members through Wylie House.

Sure. You could always ask after the other spirits. They weren't always spirits, and it's possible that they died... interestingly... Information might be useful there.

Of course, there are other questions. Like how these guys got involved with Studio Cypher.

Additionally, you could always ask her what the "Z" in her name means. She wouldn't tell the person who's supporting her server...Wink

Here's Z's response to my car key question:

Quote:
Keys. Keys. The spirit world often sees the world through the lens of symbol. The key opens the door to understanding. It opens the heart and the soul. I believe that a mischievous poltergeist has moved your keys as it searched for its own answers. Another, much lesser-known, symbol is the sock. Poltergeists love to collect socks, for socks cover the feet, and feet take us to our fated destinations. Have you been losing many socks recently? Find your socks, and you should find your keys.

The strange part is I really did lose a sock just a couple of weeks ago. I swear if I find that sock and my car keys are anywhere near it, I will flip out.

Interesting note: For the color puzzle, the name of the .gif is the answer to the puzzle. I wonder if that was intentional.

So I take it that getting the registration email that said "we'll be sending you your invitation code to pff on July 4" isn't enough - we have to ALSO have sent Madame Z an email in order to get the emails/puzzles you all received ???

Nevermind. Spam folder. Now I have no idea what to do with this first puzzle. OK, not so hard once the brain is engaged. And the uF tool threads are readily available. I'm sorry , I don't do actual ASCII encryption in my head.

I just sent my question... i said:

Quote:
I'm interested in your "spiritual advisors". How did they become... dead? Are there any interesting reasons that they haunt places?

the PFF site seems to be down, I guess the advisor puzzles are being loaded...

If I get a chance later I'll set up a thread for each advisor, as there will no doubt be discussions on puzzles and personalities.

I'm new

Hello people Smile I'm new to this whole ARG thing, and I'm very excited. I subscribed for this case and hope I can have a blast while I waste time at work (SSSHHH!!!! Very Happy ) so anyways, I got my question to Madame Z answered, so here it is:

Who are your advisors?(for lack of not knowing what I was doing, and this was the first thing that came to mind)

Quote:
Why, all the spirits who live at the Wylie house advise me. Some advise me on business matters, some on how to create stronger bonds between spirit and flesh. I believe my closest advisor is Duchess Lahmina. She is very observant and wise.

So, then is Duchess Lahmina special in some way? if she's observant and wise, I would assume she knows something about what's going on.

Strider
