That was some council meeting last week, wasn't it?

The whole affair unfolded in a manner that reminds me of a story my dear, late mother told me a long time ago. I am sure you will agree this vote is reminiscent of why the capital of Greece (the birthplace of democracy) isn't called Poseido. The story harkens back to the days of myths and legends, and, if I remember correctly, a notorious campaign between two of the greatest Olympian gods - Poseidon, the god of the sea, and Athena, the goddess of wisdom.

Then he provided us with a story of how the Greek gods were divided and how Zeus would have to make the final decision but he was having a hard time deciding between his brother and his daughter.

However, I remember the mythology as a contest between the gods to provide the city with something that would be best for the people, allowing the city to choose. It was between Poseidon's gift of the horse and Athenas gift of olives as the deciding factor. But, that's my version. Mayor Dobbs appears to have his own story.

Now, I don't usually get to vote, but in the event of a tie, I as the Mayor am required to cast the tiebreaking vote. Boy, did I loathe that idea. I really wanted the plans to go through, but I kept seeing my mother's face in those of each of the Council-people that turned to me to vote. With chit in hand, so to speak, I can tell you that I did finally make my difficult decision.

I had read before the story and as I recall Poseidon's gift was a fountain.
Actually both, the crack made by Poseidon's trident and the place where Athena planted her olive, were preserved when the temple named Erecteion was built, as both where sacred places
