weirdly, this post is a reply to something further down in this thread; the unforums had timestamp problems today. For the beginning of this thread, see the post AFTER this one)

The hieroglyphs on the Simon game, and in the Valenzetti Equation, were found in an Egyptian dictionary. The translation might not have been posted to this forum. They translated to "cause to die". I'll have to track down the source and image from another forum...

[SPEC] Putting Things Together

While watching reruns of the show last night, I suddenly had a stroke of inspiration, connecting the ARG to the show.

Everything Mittelwerk's doing seems to point to the end of the world. The blood transfusions, the working out of the Valenzetti Equation... The Hanso Foundation is preparing for armageddon, which is apparently imminent.

What if the island itself was part of the preparations?

Think about it. We've seen strange animals on the island - polar bears and horses. The island is littered with bunkers, supplied with emergency supplies, hazmat suits and some form of vaccine.

My theory? The island is a sort of Noah's Ark: designed to preserve a remnant of the Earth so that at some point civilization can begin again.

This also makes sense given the hieroglyphs = DIE situation, not to mention the subliminal message at the end of the Hanso shutdown ("Nobody is safe.")

But if this is the case, isn't the Hanso Foundation actually benevolent after all? Certainly trying to save some of the world can't really be perceived as evil. Unless....

(Here's where this spec might get a little wild.)

What if the Hanso Foundation itself was the cause of this imminent apocalypse? Think about the Life Extension Project. The apparent suffering of Joop. Hanso himself had a mysterious meltdown - what if he himself took the vaccine, and his apparent decline in health was the result?

This could tie in with the talk of evolution and the bettering of man kind. Perhaps they are taking it into their hands to start up the evolution of humans by creating harsh conditions where the unfit die off and the fit (and corporate executives) survive.

Yeah that was one of the TLEC podcasts theorie, as they said, its possible that the hanso foundation solved the Valenzetti equation and know when the world will end... so instead of telling this to everybody what would create panic, they decided to build an Ark on an island where the human race won't die because nobody knows they are in here, ( maybe the island is invisible since you continue to press the button ... ). That's why they are doing test on people. they want one of each kind of personality etc ...
But with the ARG we know that the mathematiciens are still working on this equation so ...

whoops, sorry, it was from the final update to THF.org via the Life Extension Project, where there were those TV monitors with security camera feeds. Here's a summary from another blog, as it was the easiest thing to find with Google:
Quote:
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW THE REST?
THEN ENTER THE NAME OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE VIK INSTITUTE...
ARMAND...?

And the up pops a box for you to type this info in. We got this name in the letter this guy wrote to Mittelwerk that Persephone showed us earlier, and he was also mentioned in a DJ Dan podcast just prior to this hack. The name to type in was "Zander." If you did that, Persephone typed:

COOL. THANKS. SORRY FOR ALL THE CLOAK AND DAGGER.
BUT I GOTTA BE CAREFUL WHO I TRUST...

I THINK MITTELWERK IS THE KEY TO ALL THIS --
I NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT HE IS UP TO WITH ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS --
I'M GONNA

And then the screen kind of goes crazy, flicking lots of images by, and then it goes black, and the words "NOBODY IS SAFE" pop up, and then the Hanso logo, but in red against the black screen (very devilish looking).

The problem with those last few seconds of the shutdown is that it is hard to go back and replay it to see things we might have missed. The thread where we discussed it is here.

Go back and do the hack again if you want to see it for yourself.

Ah, okay I remember that now, vaugely at best(I was talking with friends, then we all kinda just sat there and looked blank at the hanso logo, then tried to refresh..well you know where that went.

By the by, has anyone happened to ask Rachael WTF that last "p" update meant? the one that looked like she was traped inthe bloody computer? I know it has the backwards numbers and all that, but the picture still gets in my head sometimes gah.
