[PFF] Stanley Sheckles Thread to discuss anything on Stanley
Quote:
One spirit, Stanley Schekles, "haunts" other parts of Bay Horse, and merely connects to Perfect Friends Forever members through Wylie House.
so possibly one of the mischevious "transparent figures"?

Well, at least he becomes one of the "usual suspects" for general mischief and foolery.

After my quiz, Sheckles was the one suggested for my advisor. When I first looked at the pictures this is the one I wanted. He just looks menacing with the ghostly sheet and all.

So now that the connections are running again, I have solved all 5 of Sheckles's puzzles (33% connection). Here is the conversation log:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I am Stanley Sheckles and I know you have to be courageous to meet your perfect friend. I will tell you tales of valor, of my own battlefield courage, to give you the strength to connect with your perfect friend!
I cannot abide the cowardly act that we bore witness to last Friday. Madame Z is a wise soul who would not hurt anyone, not even a man like Mr. Emerson, who clearly has a grudge against both the living and the dead. I have fought against many a man like him, madmen who had a taste for mayhem. It saddens me to say that there were even men of that type fighting to keep the Union together. Madame Z told me that Emerson was near her room when she arrived. It would not surprise me if he did it.
As that great hero General McCown once told me, "Never underestimate the depths to which a desperate man will sink."
I should not speak ill of my fellow man... uh... spirit. Samuel seems like a good man, though it is plain to see that he is secretly sad. I do not believe that he could do such a thing. Nickolas, though, is a business man and some people have said that it is a business man who started the war that tore our great country in twain. I have also seen him eyeing Madame Z in a most unbecoming fashion. I have told him he should not do that, being a married man and all, but he told me I was seeing things. Could he have sent that message in order to make her feel vulnerable so he could protect her? I hope that is not the case. I can't predict how I would react to knowing that Madame Z's poltergeist was threatening her in order to woo her.
I hate to admit it, but I have now connected with you just as much, or more, as I have with Madame Zanzibar. This must be because I do not live in the Wylie house, and distance must make soul connections harder. I am also a very stealthy man. I remember when I served under John P. McCown at the city of New Madrid. He stuck a Lee-Enfield in my hand and told me to go harass the enemy lines. And I did, all by myself, keep their forces at bay for an entire two nights. They started to call me the "night terror" so sorely did I test their courage. I wish it could have lasted, but one man cannot hold off an entire fighting force by himself though, and in the end we had to retreat. Since I am not quite connected to Madame Zanzibar, she might not have heard of these exploits. I know she wants to know as much as possible about spirits, so if you tell her, I am sure we would both be much obliged to you.
I have decided to hold off on puzzle spoilers until someone requests them.

The first puzzle is a kind of a say what you see type puzzle. Remember to write your answer as one word with all lowercase.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Name the thing the arrow is pointing to in relation to the other.
As far as the stock market puzzle goes...I haven't seen a stock market puzzle. How much of a connection have you made with Sheckles?

A 6% connection - the stock-market puzzle mentions (amongst other things) Ryder System, Inc and Enterra Energy Trust.

I see something there that's close to a common word . . . I'll give it a shot.

Any kind soul willing to nudge me on Stanley's 2nd puzzle (the comma-separated pairs of numbers)?
I've been assuming that the puzzle is a

book cipher, but if so, I don't have a text that works. The only relevant text I could think of was the quote by General McCown in the conversation log, and that's not long enough.
Perhaps it's some other kind of puzzle, but once you see it as one sort, it's hard to see it as another.
