Thanks, cskane4life!

Not only did you steer me out of a dead end, but I got to see a really pretty piece of machinery. I'd never heard of the Hansen writing ball.

I ran into one that seems easy, but hasn't cracked yet.

This typewriter is a ball.
What year was it first produced?"

Try searching again - you are on the right track.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The answer is much earlier than the one's you gave - I will post it if you want

I just noticed that there are no conversation logs here for Nickolas. Could somebody post what they have so far please. I have 13% and this is all i have.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Perfect Friendship requires commitment. It doesn't just appear out of nowhere, you must work for it. It must be earned. The same is true for business, and I think, getting to the bottom of mysteries. I know business, and I will tell you some of what I have learned as we connect to one another. Once we are connected enough, I will start introducing you to potential friends.

We should get to know each other first. I am Nickolas Marshal, a – forgive my humor here – chemical baron. I supplied chemicals to all the major pharmaceutical companies in my day. Near the end of my life, my full life became complete when I met and married my lovely wife Jasmine. We were happy together until the end of our days. We were even fortunate enough to die in each other's arms. We have nothing to hide from each other or the world. We crossed over to this brave new world "life" in each other's arms. Romantic, no?

This is Nickolas' conversation log at 80%:

Loyalty! That is the first rule of friendship, and that is why the traitor must be found post haste. I hope that Madame Z used her best judgment in hiring this detective. The man looks like he has fallen on hard times. No matter. I was talking about loyalty. It saddens me that there are so many mercenary minds out there these days. Jumping companies at the drop of a hat, marrying for no reason other than money, how can you respect someone like that? My life was founded on a solid core of loyalty. Was that preacher loyal to his church? Were the rest loyal or true? If you find the spirit who is known to falter in the face of gain or loss, I am sure you will have found your culprit.

I have thought on this a lot, and I think that Emerson might be your man. I've known so many like him over the years: so quick to bad mouth the boss, and yet so quick to lie about when someone's back is turned. No perseverance. He says he wants to work hard again, but he couldn't put in the work I did to make my company work. I never cut and run, or abandon my friends for a small extra profit. That mindset took me far. Very far… indeed, it took me almost to the end of my wife. Life. To the end of my life. And then at the end of my life, I was there with Jasmine, right there at the end. Why, I wouldn't have left her side if I could.

I was just talking with my lovely wife, the woman that I crossed over the boundary of death with, the only treasure that I could take with me beyond the veil... ah, I'm sorry. I get carried away when I think of her. To think of how hollow my life would have been without her... oh. I'm sorry, I did it again. She pointed out to me, clever woman that she is, that loyalty does not seem to be much of a virtue among the dearly departed. As I mentioned before, Emerson is nothing more than a common mercenary, but I can't help but notice that the "Duchess" only wants her name up in lights. What lies might she tell to make it seem like she knows something? Just the other day I heard her tell Madame Z that she thought Stanley might be the culprit. He does not inhabit the Wylie house, so perhaps he is the agent of a "foreign" power. Preposterous. Everyone can plainly see that he is very devoted to Madame Z.

Well, perhaps I was wrong. Everyone says that business men are liars, cheats, and thieves, but that isn't true at all. I simply cannot condone those sorts of shady practices. I have half a mind to tell Madame Z just what that young man has done to her, to her potential customers, and all of our good names. I come from a time when any man that was worth a good name was forthright and honest. What happened to those days?

at 86%, I got the following conversation log:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
What a despicable, low-class action. I thought low of whoever threatened Madame Z before, but now... I find myself agreeing with Mr. Emerson. Whoever attacked Madame Z deserves no pity. If I had hands, I would strike him down myself. Madame Z will persevere... I know she is strong. She is just like my, oh. My good friend from long ago. Even though she will survive, we should do our best to track down this living man and make him pay for what he did. But who was it? Who benefits from grave robbery?

Here's the final message at 100%:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I was weak, weak when I should have been strong. I, like so many industry leaders, was an example for men to follow. I made promises and I should have kept them. I told my dear wife, Daisy, that I wouldn't ever leave her side, I wouldn't ever forget her, but she died and in my sorrow I looked out at the world and saw Jasmine. I should never have approached her, and never have accepted her advances. I told Daisy I was hers forever, and it was she who made me strong. My "empire" was built with both of us. How could I have disrespected her memory like that?

I am with Jasmine, and I remain with her, as a punishment. I deserve what I get, for what I did.
