Oh, I can feel you out there. Yes, your brilliance is just like my own, I am sure! I am the Dutchess Lahmina. I was destined for great things, you know. I was in the movies, and the agents were hounding me night and day, promising me that I would soon be a star. They were offering me the world! Me, a girl from Bay Horse! I would have gotten the world, too, but alas… it was not to be. I was struck down, struck down so painfully, so young. I can't... I can't say any more about that right now. It is too painful. I am so distressed over the threat against Madame Z. I feel sorry for the poor dear. She's been struggling with this website of hers, trying to bring our wisdom to a cold, uncaring world, and now one of the other tenants has repaid her generosity with betrayal. It might have been Mr. Emerson. Not two weeks ago, he threw a salt shaker across the room when Nickolas suggested Emerson was… I don't quite remember. Maybe he said Emerson was a hitman! Could you believe that? Emerson's eyes... they seem to look right through me most of the time. Maybe he is a hit man and wants to kill again! Wouldn't that be exciting?

I'm not sure I'd trust Samuel Buckwell either. The man says he was a preacher, but if he was, what is he doing here? He puts on a sad, pious face, but I, of course, know actors and I'm pretty sure he's acting. He must have done something terrible to become a ghost… not, not that you have to do something terrible. I never did anything terrible in my life, unless you count stealing men's hearts. Oh, oh dear. What if Samuel and Mr. Emerson were... partners? Wouldn't that be terrible?

Do you know my biggest regret? My fans. While some famous women are only worried about connecting with a rich husband, I am truly my mother's daughter. I care about people! I want to help people. I would have helped so many people if I just had the chance. Well, now I have the chance… if this website can stay open. You might want to look at that "actress" in the other room. Just the other night I heard her wandering around upstairs muttering about missing her diamonds and jewels. Can you believe that?

Oh poor Gregory, how I weep for you at night. How I wish I could sleep, sleep and forget that awful night. Was my brilliance so cruel to you? Were you so afraid of losing me? Oh, that red, red blood. How I wish I could have looked away.

Things have become so awkward here. Less than a week ago, we were all happy here in our little world. Now everything is shaken. Mr. Emerson is muttering "poltergeist" at everyone in a very mean voice. I must say he is a very convincing actor. Poor Stanley, that brave war hero, he hardly comes around anymore. Oh, but I wonder... Does that mean that his purpose is done? Did Stanley come around merely to threaten Madame Z and then disappear into the night?!

and where it says REPLY it gave me an option to contact her. Anyone else got to contact one of the ghosties yet?

Do you know what I heard last night? Oh, I probably shouldn't be telling you this, you'll think I'm wicked for listening at doors, but I couldn't help it. I was just walking back from the bathroom, and I heard Jasmine say something. She sounded very cross so I listened at the keyhole, just for a moment. There was a bit of silence, and she said "It doesn't mean anything! It's just a word!" Then one of them started to approach the door, so I went on my way. I wonder what that could mean. What is just a word?

I... I... why ever would I need forgiveness? Did someone say... I mean, did someone tell you about... ? No, how silly. You must have been talking to someone that was misinformed. I never did anything wrong. I just wanted to be a star, to help people. But... you know, jealousy brings out the worst in people. And it was so terrible, he never forgave himself, and died so alone. But don't worry. I have forgiven him, and I have found a way to help people again. Don't you worry, this has turned out for the best.
Guess I missed the mark a bit...

My Reply: Sleep what awful night? what happened? Was it your blood, or Gregory's blood, or someone else's altogether? I'm sorry you had to see the blood, that's always traumatizing no matter who's blood it is.

Duchess: Oh, that terrible, terrible night. It was the night I died, and the blood, that red, red blood, it was mine! He had no reason to fear, I could have taken the pressure of public life and kept my relationship with him. I could have, but he was afraid, and he slashed down that knife upon me… oh, he wouldn't listen. That poor, poor man. He deprived himself and the world of something great and wonderful.


so, it appears that the duchess was murdered? out of jealousy?

 		It looks as though you have all managed to crack the Duchess's puzzles - I am seriously stuck on the list of numbers over what looks like a 'phone keypad.

I have tried

I searched and got some complicated algorithms about Euler

Oh of all the indignity! We have very specific rules here, don't you know? I don't know all about it, maybe Nickolas does. We have a contract that clearly states that we aren't to be disturbed up here, except Madame Z when she has to use the bathroom, but she knows what times she can come up. Madame Z knows it, and her boarder here knows it too! But just yesterday that man blundered into the bathroom as I was making myself up. Just like that, bold as anything. He even has a bathroom in his room! How rude. Probably looking for Wylie house antiques to make off with.
