Because her blog is the only place that updates daily, and all other characters in the ARG are directing our attention towards her (DJ Dan, ROT).

The level of "errors" and really obvious fakes are just too much for me to ignore. Either the writers are really really bad at pulling togather an ARG or they are really good and we are playing a very different game than we think.

This is all getting very off topic so im starting a new thread on the meta board. I'll include all my posts about this so far. http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15731

Im not going to post there because thats not a fun thread and more importantly what im saying is COMPLEATLY on topic for this tread.
The photos are very obviously doctored up. Made obvious FOR A REASON. I dont know what that reason is but we cant simple ignore the fact that Rachel is giveing us faked information and I for one want to know why. It makes no sense to just pretend that these photos are not fakes and go along with her story that she just snapped them last night.

Hrr- This is one of my major issues with this game and it's multiple realities- it's sometimes downright impossible not to turn meta in this type of discussion. I posted at length in the other (necessary and, ahem, I think very fun!) thread and some counterpoints to your argument can be found there. In short, to me, WHY it makes sense to ignore that these photos are fakes goes right to the heart of this entire Experience. Keeping the discussion in this thread makes it very hard to respond to you directly.
Back on this topic, though, and in this reality- I think Rachel is entirely nuts. She's dumb. She's unreliable. Persephone was a bit wacked as well, but in more of a raving genius lunatic kind of way. Rachel is bent on revenge, but she's also unable to do anything without asking our input first (which she seems to generally ignore) or without getting the go-ahead from GidgetGirl.
And although I LOVE that there is a revolt going on over in her blog, I'm not sure what it will achieve. Can we generate enough collective power to alter her path? Matt_the_Pale firmly believes so, and I applaud his tireless efforts.

Who is Helgus? Someone posting at Rachel's blog found that the original name on the ship was "Elder Antonius". So "Helgus" was intentionally added to the name.
I Googled "Helgus" and came up with some weird entries at Wikipedia by a user named "Helgus" who claims to be a mathematician. His post started in May 2006 and some of them have already been deleted because the mathematicians associated with Wikipedia took issue with them. Mostly his post are on "Mathematical Eventology" by which he seems to mean some kind of probability theory envolving random events. Doesn't this sound like it might be related to the Valenzetti equation?

The User page for Hegus:

The discussion page about his posts:

Helgus's supposed photo:

I think this guy might be Enzo Valenzetti himself, now using a fake name.
(Haven't we already seen a Wikipedia entry on the Velenzetti Equation turn up later In-Game?)

Et tu, Helgus? Nice spot, Wulfgirl. There do seem to be some interesting crossovers between Helgus ("eventology") and Valenzetti ("mathematical forecasting"). Not understanding either Russian or mathematical theory makes it hard to form an independent assessment.
But after paging through Helgus' posts, I'd be surprised if he ends up being in-game. If he's fake (rather than just a foreign and possibly slightly weird mathematician in a marginal field), he's a more elaborate and better-realized fake than most of the ones we've seen so far- complete with footnotes of actual scholarly articles and academics who actually exist (e.g., Vladimir Lefebvre). Cf. the site on famous shipwrecks, which was much more obviously cobbled together.
DID the PMs fake an entry on the Valenzetti Equation? I remember them linking to some legitimate wiki entries through sublymonal, but I don't recall them faking one. Could have missed it, though.
On the lowercase "i"- is it possible that this is just a naming convention, to distinguish it from
an uppercase
a lowercase "l", and that this is common practice on ships? I don't know this, just a guess.

Yes, I saw it before it went down. First discussed here . The link no longer works- it takes you directly to the Gary Troup page on Wiki, but there is a version of the page in the thread.

I think it's actually a capital "I" with a big scratch in it. The edges are a bit jagged.

The Helgus on wikipedia isn't in-game, or at least I doubt it is. The picture linked to on wikipedia has some interestingly old date work:
Date and time of data generation 22:09, 8 September 2005
He seems to be a legitimate mathematician, though the choice for it being on the ship's rear is more likely than not a clue of some kind. Perhaps we should try testing the ship's name on the valenzetti site as directories?

As its said in lostpedia "The translation of Helgus Antonius is Weekend Antonym and it is Swedish." but word by word translation arent very safe ...
They also noticed that the "i" of Antonius is the only one letter to be lower case. Does that means something ? Is it a hint for an anagram without "i" ?
I am swedish, and that is not swedish. Helg is Weekend, and helgdag is holiday. The writing looks to me like Saint Antonius, Which in swedish would be Helgonet Antonius.

Strange to anyone else that there hasn't been anything lately? I mean... I don't expect huge updates or anything, but usually Rachel updates her blog at least partly later in the day.
I wonder if the PMs are running in circles trying to figure out what to do about the mutiny on the comments

I think so... they really have jumped the gun on this, and with the RoT clues being worthless, and people actually figureing things out before the PMs thought we would, I have a feeling there might be some sort of meltdown in the second act...

HELGUS ANTONIUS "Antonius" is swedish for "medicine"
and Helgus could be the person who created the company
so it could mean "Helgus Medicine"

I'm wondering if there is something significant going on here. Maybe Rachel is in danger. Maybe we're supposed to be trying to find her somehow? Or maybe she managed to stow away on the boat and she doesn't have internet access. Or maybe she really is not to be trusted and now that people are on to her she's going into hiding. I'm thinking the real Persephone hacked into Rachel's site and made some changes to sow doubt, so people could find out Rachel is a fake. Could Persephone be one of the instigators of the mutiny? Do we know who was most responsible for getting this mutiny going? Is there anyone suspicious posting, someone similar to Gidget Girl, that we may not realize knows more than we do?
I don't know. Just some thoughts to try to make sense of it all.
