I told him that any day would be fine with me, still, picked Thursday as my first choice and Saturday as my second.

I picked Thurs as first choice, and Sat as the second, too.
But any day is fine with me.

I picked Thursday as first choice, Wednesday for second. If the puzzle contest is on Saturday I would be bowing out since I'll be halfway between Bakersfield and Las Vegas at 2p PST.

I'm sensing we'll be doing this at 9p E/6p P on Thursday if chat comments and postings in here are any indication of concensus.

I've said i can only make the Saturday for 5pm.... 9pm EST is very late at night for us europeans, and its a "school night" too

He didn't say we couldn't share our puzzles and utilize friends to help solve them Cool

I'm all about sharing the fun - so those who were unable to play can have the fun of puzzle solving.......although if I think I can do it on my own faster than posting or going into chat then that is what I'll do......and then share afterwards.

So, first off the email went to my junk folder so I didn't know it was there for a few minutes.

I knew what kinds of cipher, but apparently I didn't remember the day in class when we learned which direction to run the letters. And every time I tried to load the online decrypt program previously posted in UF, MS Explorer created an error (please, don't get started about Firefox). This laptop I am using, on dialup, does not have a printer. So there are tons of little hotel papers strewn all over the desk table with hand written number schemes - worked for an hour thinking YZABCD instead of YXWVUT direction. Embarassed

After getting myself turned around, I got the first 3 tickets figured out. Then got stuck. Turned out I was trying to transcribe the wrong letters (not sure how I got the code miscopied). Another wasted hour. A couple of the segments I was trying to decode twice it seems. Crying or Very sad

And four hours (I'm not kidding) later, I finally got through the last 4 tickets like cutting a warm knife through butter. Why couldn't the first 4 tickets go that easily? Sigh. Sad

Anyway, I'm sure the winner will complete the puzzle much faster than 4 hours. After the deadline, I'll post my puzzle in here so others can try their luck. And when they solve it in less than 15 minutes, go ahead, laugh at me. Because if I had been at home, on my own computer, with a real keyboard, mouse & printer, I might have finished in less than 30 minutes. Embarassed
