Well, the coordinates of "somewhere" match very closely to Castaway Cay's, in the Bahamas. (Castaway Cay is officially located at 26.05N 77.12W, extremely close to the coordinates to "Somewhere")

Also, it just makes logical sense. People (Volvo included) can't just go burying a huge crate with a car on just any piece of land. It has to be on a piece of land that either they, or another contest sponsor (Disney) actually OWNS. As Disney owns Castaway Cay, most of which is undeveloped and off limits to anyone not affiliated with Disney Cruise Line, this makes perfect sense. it is in teh Caribbean (this is a Pirate of the Caribbean contest) and they have a ship from the movie (The Flying Dutchman) anchored there now. Addiitonally, it is on a plot of land that nobody unaffiliated with this contest would have access to or accidentally unearth. This is the final location.

I agree with gaitorbait,

We had a lot of discussion about this in the topic "Final Location"

I wasted A LOT of time when I googled earthed the 25587713 because, I had marked Castaway and saw it in spitting distance from Gr A. I ended up trying to find a difference buried in the numbers that would give me a jump to those coords...

Still, it makes TOTAL sense to have it there. Maybe we can reopen that topic (Final Local) for giggles because, I need some after commiting contest suicide

Somewhere Answer - i'm 99.9% Sure this is right

Ok this solution is for the UK only.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First Find the box

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Divide the box into rows and columns

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Take Column 1 and 'add' the pics together - you should have one left over pic. Note how many rows down this pic is

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Now repeat for columns 2-8 and note down number down the extra pics are

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Once done you should now have a series of columns and extra pic row numbers

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Column 1=1, C2=3, C3=8, C4=4, C5=6, C6=2, C7=5, C8=7

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Does this remind you of Cape Horn?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The column number is the actual co-ordinate, the number of rows down is the position, same as the lightning and thunder

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Once ordered correctly this gives - 16247583 -

This is a beautiful seamless solution which fits nicely. Also "Serenity" is a synonym for "Peace" - a bit on a tenuous link but really we are "peace-ing the peaces together (yes I know it shpuld be piecing and piece)

I hope it is right - it works to well not to.

Also thanks to all you guys on this forum - you've been great and it's a shame we all can't win - everyone here deserves to.

Looks like someone got it right:

Once the three finalists for the Final Leg are confirmed, we'll post this information on The Hunt website during the week of July 24th, 2006.

While you're waiting, visit www.volvocars.us to learn about special offers on Volvo models. The Volvo Model Year End Sales Event is in full swing! Your Volvo retailer has exciting offers on the rugged and versatile XC90 and the full range of Volvo models available right now

I got that after entering in my guess.

I think so

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On the box-lid if you add a curl to the top and bottom of each character you get a number series

But it seems silly to miss out the section of puzzle that is the biggest. Also imagine the box is whole - the lid is the thing on top - what you see first. It is the "key" to what is inside. A number series on top wd suggest we are looking for a series inside - number or otherwise.

I looked at both solutions but in the end went with the box inside answer because it seems much more suited to a final puzzle.

the numbers on the lid are the solution numbers,
the numbers you get in the box piratenick are the order they go in.

So then what's with U.S. lid numbers? For my 8 digits I just put in the square box numbers because I couldn't make anything of the lid. Sassy has an idea on a different thread, but are there any other lid theories out there?

US lid is a bit bent, but they do give you a 8 digit number if you work at it
