I'm not "getting my hopes up" for winning, as I'm sure others were faster, but I swear it said my numbers were correct. Did anyone else, using the same final numbers as me, 01453597, get the same response, asking for your contact information verification??

If nothing else, you guys are actually increasing my hopes....May the best pirate win, aye!

Im spanish, and i input this code 01453597 at 20:18.

I think this code is incorrect, the correct is 83608993 ??

noo.. pay attention a little more.. also the movie had something to do with the answer... the top of the box is in all different sorts of fonts. the one with the most characters is wedings or something. Once its spellt out it says something ( cant say) which relates to the movie. In the movie, the monkey grabs the key map for one second. the map changes when u see the monkey hold it.. whatch the movie again.. Hope everyone had fun but the first 3 finalist of the us were already chosen approx. 10 min after opening of port royal. Port royal was answered before it even opened. Also on ebay they were selling the 2 pics of the box and the lid 5 hours before opening for 105$. So to tell you the truth.. this game was totally unfair towards any citizen.. im sorry to dissapoint you but none of you most likly have won unless already confronted. the volvo not on the disney cruise island. its an island bought south of bermuda. good luck to those 3. and if you need my help fi nding your car. contact me and i will sell my knowledge of this secret treasure.

I'm really not happy with any of the solutions so far to the lid. I'm also confused by the missing piece in the first column of the box. And the so far unused ssssssst. It's really not adding up as clearly as the other puzzles did. I have no Serenity.

I don't get why people keep saying that ssssssst is unused. That was what I put in to get onto Somewhere in the first place. What did everyone else use? and why would more than 1 code word work???

Perhaps this question should be posted under the Port Royal thread; but, then again, perhaps not. Anyway...

I know the coordinates for the island of Somewhere (i.e., Disney's Castaway Cay) have long since been discovered and disclosed. However, was there ever any discussion as to how one found them?

Someone please tell me if this is correct:

"THE TEMPEST TAMED, THE SEVEN SEAS NAMED – YOU'RE BACK WHERE YOU BEGAN. IS IT TAMED? ARE THEY NAMED? BE SURE. MAKE SURE, AGAIN AND AGAIN..."

We were being directed back to all of the previous locations to look for clues pertaining to the final coordinates. I assumed that all the red herrings along the way would give me the answer. Was I correct?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
BERMUDA -- 5 (on a piece of broken china buried in the sand)

MADEIRA -- 8 (shown sideways, like the symbol for infinity, on a barrel)

TROPIC OF CANCER -- N (on a piece of broken china found under water)

SAINT HELENA -- 7 (scratched on the cave wall at the top of the ladder)

ILE SAINTE-MARIE -- 7 (on a felled tree with no corresponding circle puzzle)

ISLA MÁS A TIERRA -- 3 (horizontal white marks on a rock wall)

COZUMEL -- W (next to the drawing of the Mayan god, Huracan)

?location? -- 1 (Where was this found?)

?location? -- 2 (Where was this found?)

?location? -- 5 (Where was this found?)

Also, how was the correct order of the coordinate components determined?

Lastly, I noticed that several people have praised Volvo for this interesting, challenging and fun puzzle. Well, I personally believe that Volvo's main contribution was the donation of the vehicle. With regard to this clever game, I think it was Disney Imagineers who developed it. So my praise goes to them on a job well done. Smile

Wintergirl:

The 2 appeared on the beach in the box with the bottle, it looked like "2..." and the original 5 was there as well "...5" (the dots, to my original confusion [ i thought this implied they were 2 _ _ 5] just imply that the 2 goes before the 5, since there are 2 at this location)

The next 5 was from the tally marks in Madeira, outside the door; the 8 from the barrels inside (the infinity turned sideways). The N was from the Tropic of Cancer on the inner plate piece.

Then 7 was from the tally marks on St. Helen, 7 on a leaf in the forest, 1 from the Chinese symbol (this one wasn't part of the coords needed but is the exact same symbol as the one we DID use later, so we know it to be a 1), and 3 from the three white tick marks on the rocky man-made beach. The W was from the wall of faces.

Sorry for not putting names of the locations; I tend to get the names very mixed up in my head, though I have them all written down -- I just don't wish to go back to it, to relive how much time I spent on it all just to have tossed away my final answer in aggravation to Volvo's odd US start times.

Anyway, the reason why we say that 'SSSSSSST' was unused is that, yes, it was the keyword to get into Port Royal, BUT it was also intended to give some sort of hint about how to solve the location as well.

Count on St. Helen was for the ladder-step counting; Manmade/remains on that one beach was for counting the manmade remains; etc. Beyond the initial keyword, 'SSSSSSST' was not used though is what the dilemma is. It goes against the nature that the keyword/clue played some part in the solving as well, which is why I lean towards some of the latest conjectures (about rearranging the columns to be the 7-filled squares, followed by the single almost-filled square).

Thanks for your details about the final coordinates to get to "Somewhere" island. I appreciate you filling in the gaps for me. (If you look at my spoiler comment, you will see that I already had most of what you stated.)

However, I never asked about the "SSSSSSST" key word. Perhaps someone else was looking for your comment? I dunno... Very Happy

re:"sSSsssSt"

Perhaps the "sSSsssSt" was the sound of our collective egos deflating as we realized that we were going to spend hours systematically clicking on five or six screens' worth of sand, scrub and shrub.... only to hear the mocking re-iteration of "No!", "No!", "NO!!!".

AND THEN... we discovered a box lid with Alien hieroglyphs of which we could make neither heads nor tails; subsequently checking in to the unforum to discover that there was (allegedly) MORE... there was also allegedly a BOX to click upon if we wanted to be served up a last dose of enigma.
(I say allegedly because of the Foto-shopped Port Royal "lights" hoax)

I've had my fill and more of mouse-clicking.

Oh, well, no Volvo for my house... the Property taxes would have killed me next year, anyway. Not to mention the Insurance... and the price of petrol... and all the looky-lous who'd want to check the vehicle out every time you park it... assuming one survives the snakes, rats, fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and other vermin likely to inhabit the environs where I'd have to dig the cursed thing up.
(And even then assuming one survives the machinations of six other various cut-throat entities who have the same goal in mind and can concieve of nothing less than utter triumph at any cost...)

(Imagine that sinking feeling as the various finalists arrive "Somewhere" for the last leg... to discover a camera crew emceed by Joe Rogan...)
(Shudder)

But a couple of loose ends vex me.

What about all those "X"s and "O"s?

When I placed the Davy Jones card between "Great Lengths" and the Witches Circle, the tentacles did a indication thing that wasn't used (place squid-face upside-down at a 45 degree angle with the top of his head toward the south-east)

When/If the crazed compass was placed just so over the Witches Circle, it points away from its usual direction, pointing instead toward the "Scar Mountain" region.

And that unused red-letter word visible only through Jolly Roger's eyes: "LIFE"?

Waidaminnit...I think I get it...
(Feh!)

"That's LIFE... "!!!

The SSSSSSST WAS used!

The "S's" were the shapes that made up the squares, in the box, and the "T" was the shape left over (The odd one out!)

I think, anyway!

Use of the SSSSSSST

I agree that with each puzzle the KEY word to enter the location was related to the solution to solve that Puzzle..... Perhsp I am way off base, but I applies the same methodolgy in completing the squares, but turned the Box Up side down, thinking that the SSSSSSST was SQUARE, SQUARE,SQUARE,SQUARE,SQUARE,SQUARE,SQUARE TRIANGLE ! so my numbering grid was different than others..... Wintergirl,I think you will find that this "Treasure Hunt" was the work of a company from Minn. MN, called Haberman & Associates. If you would like to express your thoughts on the Hunt, they can be reached at mailSPLATmodernstorytellers.com, attn: Kim McMartin Cool
