i see it differently. "Count" was the word that helped to play st. helena, "remains" the word for the beach island and "lengths" to play the lighthouse, but didn't these all directly follow one another? ssssssst was needed to get into port royal, to the cumulative clue with the world map, not to get to somewhere. somewhere had no keyword.

another thing that bothers me about the triangles in the box. if people have been reading them right, then there is an error in the puzzle, which would be the first in the game. if people haven't been reading them right, then that very close correlation must have been purposely written in as a red herring. as far as i can think, there haven't been any red herrings yet, have there? the previous abberations turned out to be used in the cumulative puzzle. where there any others?

There is a certain emphasis on the spoken word 'cursed' more like 'cursssst' in 'cursed isle in a cursed sea'.

The Caymans seem to be missing from the map and there is a place called 'Hell' on Grand Cayman.

Spanish people

For the Spanish people at this forum:

A que hora mandasteis la respuesta correcta (83608993) ?? Question
Yo lo hize aprox. a la 1:30 AM, ya del dia 13. Pero supongo que alguien lo haria antes...

Algun español de este foro tenemos oportunidades reales de ir a la final y machacar a los americanos/austriaco/ingles/japones ?? Smile

For the rest of you:

I just asked for the first person in Spain to submit the correct answer (83608993). I did it 5,5 hours after semi's opening time.

One thing is for sure for this game: I had a great time all the way...
I will remember the Hunt each time I see a XC90 Rolling Eyes

Some thoughts

I already know I botched my answer, ashamedly. I was in a hurry, seeing as how I was at work when this started (seriously aggravating to no end), and was already feeling like a correct answer was likely to not get me anywhere (though this could still be wrong due to the fact that no definitive answer has been given that makes people go "ohhhh yeahhhh").

However, some thoughts:

If the 8 digit answer is indeed a lat/long position like before, the 3 & 4 and 7 & 8 positions can't be 60+. These are minutes, minutes are 00 - 59, so the answer would have to be like XX00 YY00 to XX59 YY59 basically.

Since all previous answers have been lat/long positions, I would assume these would hold to it as well, but it's hard to say (we also didn't have to use the NWSE lettering, though that could be assumed as N & W since that's where we are now, and have been largely).

Another thought is that, if one column has a single missing piece, think back to this one last clue:

Quote:

All eight but one will see the same
For you to find that final name

I would very much love to talk this over with anyone who needs help or wants to share their wisdom. I don't care if I give something away to someone who can win it; I spent my chance in haste ( Evil or Very Mad volvo!) but I'd love to help someone on this board they way you all helped me.

agreed

Yeah, I agree with everyone saying the puzzle hasn't been solved yet, at least not on this forum anyway. Although that T-bone guy seems to think he figured it out. That "all eight but one see the same" phrase seems a bit of a stretch for this puzzle, and we have never used the same clue on 2 puzzles in a row.
I was thinking maybe the first column inside the box matches with the seventh symbol on the lid because those are the odd men out with the missing piece to the square and the diagonal line segment on the symbol. You can rotate the triangle in the symbol to fit into the missing piece of the square in column one but beyond that I haven't found much.
In any event, all the obvious solutions have been tried again and again, so the only thing left to do is to put on a blindfold, spin around ten times, and fire one off into the night.

They say hindsight is 20/20, so maybe.....

Anyway, I have been reading all your posts. Some are really concerned with the missing piece in the tangram (sp?), and the SSSSSSST, and the word SERENITY.

Well, I reworked the puzzle using my theory, but altered a few things, including the tangram. Instead of reading it left to right in order, I ordered it right to left, cuz that way the one square that was incomplete--or different--was also just like the SSSSSSST.

Then, I got a set of numbers and googled it. It was one number off the "official" coords of a particular location. All the numbers were the same except the last. Again with the SSSSSSST thing. So I looked closer at the area of the coords that were off and were the numbers I came up with.

It had a name.

Serenity Bay.

Ok, so where is that you ask? On Castaway Cay, I say.

So here's what I think: Whatever numbers I entered are totally wrong. And even this number is prolly totally wrong cuz you can do just about anything with that last puzzle and come up with SOMETHING....pardon the pun. The posts I have read here mostly all make sense. Everyone seems to come up with a valid point.

And it would really burn me if this turns out to be right, cuz THAT location is just way too obvious and I would be very disappointed in the puzzlemasters for a COMPLETE lack of creativity there.

Thanks for sharing everyone!

Wink

PS: I only told one person (Kathy) about this earlier this morning and she used it as her guess, in case anyone is interested.
