[DISCUSSION] Semi-Final Timings Ahoy!
"i want to keep my jar of dirt"
can anybody tell me what time we start the semi final in the UK. i AM SO CONFUSED! Where will it come out first. when? What time can we do the puzzle. midnight the 11th? 8.00am the 12th? I am talking about the UK here, so PLEASE don't confuse me by writing when for the US or wherever you are!
Thanks,
Jase.

take a look at all the Port Royal sites, and then a map of the world's time zones and you'll see that the US, UK, Spain and Austria sites all open at exactly the same time. Not sure about the Japan site, don't know how the International Date Line factors in to it.

The date line shouldn't come into play. However, the same time as the ones mentioned above is 3 AM Thursday the 13th. I think there is little chance they'll open it up at that time. To make up for that, Japan*might* have a totally separate puzzle from the rest of the sites. I don't know that for a fact, but it would make sense. To be honest, I wouldn't be that surprised if each region had its own final puzzle and/or clue.

You only have to look at the japanese version of the game to find out. It looks like their game will open 7/12 at 1800 japan time. That's 9 hours before the UK and US games open.

When does the 'timer' start? At the specified time for everyone or after each individual logs in?
I ask because I, for one, will be at work at that time and unable to participate until later that evening.

Just a quick tip, that might come in handy in the futere: if you use the CODE-tags, your text is displayed in a font where all characters have the same width, as such:
Code:
Server Local UK USedt
Japan 09:00 18:00 10:00 05:00
Austria 18:00 20:00 19:00 14:00
Spain 18:00 20:00 19:00 14:00
UK 18:00 19:00 19:00 14:00
US 18:00 14:00edt 19:00 14:00
11:00pdt 19:00 14:00

EDITED: My bad - went to Port Royal for each country and official start times are as follows:
Code:
Server Local Date
Japan 09:00 18:00 7/12
Austria 18:00 20:00 7/12
Spain 18:00 20:00 7/12
UK 18:00 19:00 7/12
US-E 18:00 14:00 7/12
US-C 18:00 13:00 7/12
US-M 18:00 12:00 7/12
US-P 18:00 11:00 7/12
Guess start times won't really matter anyway since there are 3 finalists from US, and 1 finalist from each of the remaining 4 countries.

I find it unlikely they'd be opening the puzzle at 3AM local time, or use GMT for what is clearly a japan-specific website.
If you can actually read the japanese, I'm all ears. But simple statements don't fly.

We did go to all sites to get those start times. The japanese site is actually written in english numerics - so you can figure between the kanje that it starts on the 12th at 18:00 their time - all other start times have been confirmed as well.
