[UPDATE] 28/07/06 The Ooze Zone - The Dying of the Light

Quote:
I'm going to keep this short.

We found Anna this evening, me and the girl. Fleming's been going completely mental the past day or so - weird to see a calm bloke like him go totally crazy. He's the one who insisted we keep on searching the area Anna disappeared. Us, and the police, and all friends of the Heath family which, as far as I can tell, amounted to about half the population of the city, and the brighter half at that. It was the girl who demanded we go down into the tunnels.

The police have gone over them repeatedly but she, thinking as ever that she knows better than anyone else, insisted we go down again, starting from where Anna disappeared and working outwards in concentric circles. I'll give it to her - she knows her way round down there. I've been to a couple of "Raves in the Caves" in my time, but other than that I steer well clear: people get lost in that place and never come back. But she spent a lot of time there when she was a kid. She knew all the hidden tunnels, the ways through seemingly impassable blocks. And that's where we found Anna. She's dead. And by the look of her, she didn't go gentle into that good night.

We've informed all relevant authorities. But I have to go now. I need very urgently to be far more drunk than this.

Wow. Just... wow. I didn't actually think... wow.

Oh God I just saw this too, was about to post.... God. Oh dear dear dear.

*Waves fist angrily* DAMN YOU THIRD POWER!!! Evil or Very Mad DAMN YOU!!!!!!!

EDIT: (calmed down slightly) "The girl", is that Karen? Because I find it highly suspicious that she could lead Caine straight there, through 'seemingly impassable blocks' and the like...? Has Kurt inadvertedly dated two secret baddies in as many years?

I didn't see that coming.

I'm not even being sarcastic. Maybe i'm just too trusting i just thought she'd been kidnapped or was just off somewhere having some tea. But not killed.

If anything's going to throw the police into a frenzy, it's a member of the CRT getting killed.

This should be interesting.

I'm really sure the police are going to improve the situation Kurt's been working on this whole time... Rolling Eyes

God, that was a bitter twist in the plot. RIP Anna.

FWIW 'the girl' is Violet - Caine never refers to her by name. Not sure why - either he thinks we don't know about her or maybe actually naming his girlfriend is too much of a commitment for him Confused .

I'm not sure of the best way of doing this but maybe a VFE (View from earth) as a tribute to anna, anyone willing to get involved, it would be a group project obviously, lots of us each writing something small.

Oh my, I didn't see that coming either, it was like a bolt out of the blue! Shocked

I wonder how this is going to add to the storyline though, since the death of a CRT member would surely spark some investigations and raise further questions.

R.I.P Anna Sad

The word in #syzygy is that the wiki and the card manager have... erm... 'caught fire'...

...at least, the company that hosts them have! I'm sure Bri is on it.

my email to violet:

Quote:

Dear Violet

I know the last thing you probably want at the moment is to hear from us, and on behalf of all of us from Earth, I'd just like to express our sadness at Anna's death. We're all just a little worried though about why she went after the part alone, when she knew you were tracking very dangerous criminals, especially without saying anything to Fleming or the children. Anna always seemed very cautious and sensible and it seems out of character, and we don't know why. We were wondering if at all possible it might be an idea to have a look and see if there is anything on her key - maybe someone had got to her, or it might explain who killed her. I don't know whether she mentioned this to you, but on her last blog to us she seemed very anxious and almost like she was anticipating this happening. We know it is too late to prevent this awful thing, but if someone was trying to hurt Anna, then I'm sure you would all like to find out who it was.

We all feel so far away and unable to help, but please know that we would like to if we could. Our thoughts are with you all, and especially Fleming and the children.

what i *didnt* tell violet:

< spugmeistress> hmph, i'm having trouble to decide whether i'm upset about anna or not
< spugmeistress> for a start, we've been suspecting since yesterday
< spugmeistress> and for a second, why wasnt she more cautious? it seems out of character
< spugmeistress> i'm suspicious tbh
< spugmeistress> *why* did she go after it like that?
< spugmeistress> i think her deadness might actually just be hiding the fact that she wasnt telling us the whole story
< spugmeistress> she *knew* she was going after dangerous criminals, why did she go alone and not tell anyone but a quick call to kurt?
* spugmeistress does some wikiing
< spugmeistress> do we have anything from her on the subject of religion/the recons/aiko?
< spugmeistress> in hindsight she seems *very* anxious and almost wanting things to go wrong in her last blog
< spugmeistress> she seemed to know something bad might happen as well
< spugmeistress> i think she might have secretly been a lot more into the religious stuff than she let on
< spugmeistress> but i dont think she was evil, or they wouldnt have killed her (in hindsight, i meant purely evil - she at least could have shown disloyalty to the evil ppl and dobbed them in)

cass also pointed this out from anna's blog which supports the out of characterness:
Quote:
Believe me, though, when I say this: In all our motley band of conspirators, I am not the risk taker! The others may all do brash and senseless things, but I do have children to be concerned with, don't I? I'm not going to be leaping from exploding buildings or breaking into secret military bases, that's for certain!

rach =)

Uhh...oops.

Well...at least we didn't tell her to go down there? Not that that makes things any less tragic.

I mean, there was always the possibility that she'd been killed, but I just assumed kidnapping would be the more probably option.
Uh.

Incidentally, I'd never noticed Caine didn't refer to Violet by name. O.o

Well. That was all very.......sudden. And by the sounds of it, rather unpleasant too. Not that dying is pleasant at the best of times, but still.......... Oh dear.
