[UPDATE] Aglaura News July 19 - Arson, Damage, Film Crew

Quote:
July 19, 2006:

Aglaura Fires Confirmed Arson

Investigators from the Aglaura Police Department have confirmed that all the fires throughout town last week were deliberately set, although the exact methods have yet to be ascertained. Chief Prufrock said that they have multiple leads, including surveillance footage that was salvaged from the rubble at Ash Grove Park. These leads still need to be investigated, and in the case of the footage, restored and enhanced. Chief Prufrock also said that her office had received a telephone message asking them if there was a body found at Ash Grove Park, but that there was no body, and, in fact, no fatalities anywhere.

Aglaura Public Library Assesses Damage

Sarah Wyatt, head librarian of the Aglaura Public Library, announced that to her surprise, about 80-85% of the library's assets are salvageable, although the building itself is a total loss. She had no concrete plans for the future of the library, saying that it was a decision for Mayor Dobbs and the city council. When questioned about the state of the library, Mayor Dobbs responded, "It's really a shame. If those books had been digitized, they would have been saved."

Investigation Updates

In an earlier press conference, police chief Dawn Prufrock responded to some questions about the ongoing investigations into both the missing masks from the library and the missing persons reports. Chief Prufrock said that the department is still looking into the cases, but that the entire department has been overloaded with work from the recent arson, which took priority. She will release more details about the investigations as they happen.

Devil Hunt Scheduled

The new owner of The Unnatural Emporium (Formerly Wes Keeler's Emporium of the Weird), Iris Page, will be hosting a Jersey Devil event. The Devil Hunt, designed to celebrate the grand opening of the store, will be held on July 21st at 9:00 PM. Ms. Page asks that participants meet at The Unnatural Emporium and bring flashlights and bug spray.

Film Crew Interviews Citizens

Wesson Studios, a film company which has been working in the Pine Barrens on its documentary titled "Devil in the Backyard," will be interviewing local residents through tomorrow. According to a casting call on their website, they are interested in people who know "local rumors, legends, and town history." One resident, who prefers to remain anonymous, said of her interview, "Oh my, I hope I don't sound too crazy or anything in my comments they filmed. They were only interested in wild stories and legends it seemed so I told them some good ones. I just hope they make me look good."

And a new Public Comment:

Quote:
"Aglaura was a quiet, happy little town until a certain person and his craziness spread through here like a sickness. How can we let crazy people like that ruin our city? Someone needs to put a stop to it before things get worse than they already are, which is pretty bad anyway. Too bad we can't ride people out of town on a rail anymore." - anonymous

WHAT BS! the books are still able to be purchased {possibly} and had they been digitized the BOOKS still would not have been saved. but it makes it seem as if we failed by saving the library in the first place. well bah humbug on that i tell you.

Digital files can be permanently damaged/lost as well.

since the files would not have even started the digitizing effort untill after the vote, it is a mute point. There would not have been enough done to have saved what was lost, which, as it turns oiut, was not that much of the books, just the structure.

Well actually if the books were digitized and uploaded to a server outside of Aglaura then it wouldn't matter what happened to the library. However there is no point in talking what ifs and the like. It is what it is and whats done is done we can only move on from here.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that, we have no evidence of that and we really don't know who said it. It could have been anyone in the town really. I don't see how it is so obvious but maybe I am missing something. I don't think that jumping to conclusions is a good thing though and I like to see evidence before I make a decision on something either way.

It's because Diana's a real witch. Someone send the lady a broom. Er, excuse me, broom-remover.

ACTUALLY the reason i said that was relly a reference to Bruce's bolg entry {forgive me as i am typing with an angry puppy on my lap and don't have the time to look it up and link it directly} where he says diana has been posting nasty things about dale on the intranet basically. Granted, who knows if this is about dale or not, but the other "crazies" are already locked up, so... there you have it, my motivation. I think i have good reason to jump to that conclusion.
