The Google logo on the mgs page was an even 10000 bytes, which was kinda strange. Open the source and the picture information has another long binary string tagged on the end. Discard the filler zeros at the end, invert it, split it into fives, and use the same decryption method for the pacman page...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Our contact at EA has come through. The botnet is installed and the isp's have already started to hand us dark fiber under threat. The moles in AT&T, Verizon and Qwest have helped...not a lot from Europe, however. Fortunately, Blizzard has come on board. Things should go quicker. Check the Warcraft page for further instruction. (***NOTE:Capitalization and punctuation added to make things clearer...was not part of the original code.)

Um...how? I tried manipulating the levels and contrast, but I couldn't find anything. What settings should I have used?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I farted around with different filters and stuff until I figured I would find the original image to see if there were any significant changes (ie. maybe the sword wasn't broken in the original). After finding it, I didn't see any major differences, other than the colorscheme. So just for the hell of it, I figured I'd overlay the original on top of the Landalan one to see any smaller changes. If you do that, then slide the opacity down to 50%, you'll see the entire image becomes gray, and near the top, you should barely be able to make out the text I posted earlier. Once you know where to look, you can sort of see the text on the Landalan image, but I doubt anyone could catch it with the naked eye.

EDIT: The original image is at www.worldofwarcraft.com in the backgrounds section. I'd provide a direct link, but I'm at work where they block most gaming sites (thankfully not UF...yet).

Looks like you can anagram an "email" out of that string, but I can't make the rest into anything productive.

I also notice "html" in there.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I can get "please visit email html", but don't know what to do with that.

Ah! It gets us http://www.theinsidegamer.com/email.html

I received a response from Jon after sending him an e-mail. It is posted in its entirety below:

Hey Jon,

Needed to talk to someone at Landalan as an insider. Heard you were the guy to go to.

John Q

John,

My name is Jon Russel, and a few months ago I was hired as a web administrator for Landalan. I didn't realize what was going on at the time, and the truth is that I still don't know most of what goes on here.

My job allows me direct control over a small portion of the pages on one of their websites, and I also deal with forwarding and screening e-mail from industry contacts. This is why I needed an industry address for communication.

I can't really get much deeper into Landalan; nor do I think I can safely get out. But this is what I do know. Landalan is a front. I'm not sure for who, but they are some sort of international organization. We routinely deal with diplomats from the United Nations, and from what I can gather, there is something convoluted going on here.

You see, our people at the UN always talk as if Landalan is a front company for the UN. But the people here in Landalan... they don't talk like that at all.

Landalan itself deals with two main groups of companies and organizations: Internet Service Providers/Network Owners, and Video Game/Entertainment Software Companies. I'm not entirely certain how the two are connected, but it seems that both the UN's and Landalan's goals involve the internet itself, though how I'm not sure.

Anyone who wants more information about what's going on should take a closer look at the WGIG and WSIS. They get mentioned a lot around here, though why I don't know.

I will send this, but all subsequent messages will be in some form of cipher or encryption to ensure my security. I'm pretty sure I've found a pattern to their 'random' screenings of my e-mails.

If you can, you or someone helping you should try to get access to their more internal site. You should be able to accomplish this by "completing the test", if you know what I mean. (I'm doing what I can to make landalan.org as unorganized as possible, so that I can slow them down; I'm trying to avoid being fired though, as I somehow doubt they would just give me a pink slip.)

Something that you might find useful knowing though: landalan.org is their recruitment site.

~JR

So, looks like we're back to needing to crack the crypto page.

Well...I know I've hit an impasse on the crypto page. I think we're all on the same page that it's a Beaufort (or maybe the Vigenere-Beaufort variant?) cipher. I think the key length is probably 13...there seem to be a lot of coincidental digraphs and trigraphs when you split it up that way. From there, I've got nothing. I think I'm missing something. Anybody else got any ideas?

Have been thinking more about the current puzzle, if you change the letters at the end into numbers you get:

13-8-15-18-14-19 2-5-7

Now there are 81 blocks of 5 letters (including the last B as a block) and there are 9 numbers could be coincidental but maybe not. have tried splitting up the blocks and then rot-ting them to the equivalent number but nada. Throwing it out there....

pretty sure the 13's point is for us to get "UBEAF ORT" from "horns beg".

If we use a beaufort cipher, we need to figure out the parameters... I tried the vigenere with a reversed board, using UBEAFORT as well as HORNSBEG as the key, but nothing's coming up.

Nice thing is, the results of the cipher using either key are interchangeable with a rot-13. (ie, result w/key:ubeafort = result rot-13'd w/key:hornsbeg)

Anyway, I thought maybe each group of 5 would use the same letter of the key, moving to the next letter each group. Still nothing.

What gets me is the last remaining B on its own. Either the B is significant itself, or the grouping into 5's likely doesn't have a meaning.
