The 'puzzle' is
Quote:
The three branches spell out our mission:

followed by a form:

__________ the ___________ ___________

I've tried various combinations of Executive, Legislative and Judicial. I've also tried various combinations of Future, Present and Past.

** wanted to add that the div containing the quote on the original page was called 'mission.' I don't know if that relates to 'spell out our mission.' But wanted to point it out.

Any thoughts?

It makes me think of some traditional American slogans, like "We the people..." because of the whole 3 branches reference.

I'm scouring the site again to see if there's anything else...

EDIT: I'm bad with anagrams, but does "the three branches" anagram into anything? Maybe we're looking too deep. Smile

actually just tried the anagram thing. Looked through quite a few, and there were none that jumped out as me as being very good.

I'm worried it's a play on words which would require us to guess more. But that doesn't seem to be in the spirit this ARG has followed so far.

I'm still thinking it has more to do with the mission statement on the first page... although what... not really sure yet. Trying not to get too stuck on it.

With page title being "terminate" using the first branch, executive, could it spell out "execute"? No kloo what the others would spell out.

maybe it's an anagram of exe., leg., jud. but that is a lot of letters to make into three regularish words.
it could be an anagram of the goal mentioned on the first page:
developing the world of the information society

or just ignore me as I'm just getting caught up on this trail and seem to have anagrams on the brain.=P

edit: whoa, you guys are fast

Very clever. I think he is being absolutely literal.

The three branches spell out our mission:

I can't figure out if I want the anagram finder to make 3 words from "three branches" or 4 from "the three branches" or maybe just 3 from "the three branches"

I've found some interesting words like Breach and Search and others I can't think of. I'm guessing this is it but there so many Confused

EDIT: More interesting words (still can't get anywhere): breathe, teach, reach, hatch, chant, snatch, hear, thrash, earth, cheer, cheat, beat

I'm sure the list goes on and on but I thought I would add this just in case it triggered something in someone's mind.

Hiya! Not sure if this was covered anywhere...but it seems now that, when entering an incorrect answer on the Terminate page it asks you to try again, but links you back to the Main Landalan page.

Also, on the Main Landalan page, in the source, it now says something that I don't think was mentioned before.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the ages of democracy, and the endless files of a bloated government, much is looked over. Behind each closed door is a story to be told - every file leads somewhere.

It may have been mentioned before, or is just common knowledge, but I just thought I'd mention it.

On the Internet page with the altered map of Abilene, there are boxes with Cyrillic letters in them...and one box has a letter missing with an _

I can write the letters out, but it doesn't really make any sense...

EDIT 1: Just some random thoughts...the map image is called tblr.gif; three boxes have just only ONE letter in each of them and they are B, L, and R...but no T is on its own...but T does occur in other boxes with other letters...

Hi - first poster here (and first ARG game too) - was wondering if the WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society) held in Tunis 2005 has anything to do with this puzzle? Its a real site but maybe there is something in there we can use for the 'three branches puzzle' since it seems to relate to the 'mission statement' on the first page.

Just a thought since I am not familiar with the 'rules' for PM's using real sites in games - am currently investigating further.

Please fell free to comment and/or 'trout'.

Edit - Or perhaps not - another thought occurs - could the 'branches' refer to the pages off the main page 'Update' 'internet' 'future' or similar - will try those combos.

From the front page, same sentence layout as the puzzle maybe?

Quote:
Goal: developing the world of the information society.

And,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The page also references http://www.landalan.org/style2.css, which it doesn't use.

Found something interesting checking the source on Tunis page :

Quote:
The<span class="elegant">p</span>Tunis<span class="elegant">l</span>Phase<span class="elegant">e</span>is<span class="elegant">a</span>under<span class="elegant">s</span>way.<span class="elegant">e</span>The<span class="elegant">h</span>UN<span class="elegant">e</span>will<span class="elegant">l</span>be<span class="elegant">p</span>our<span class="elegant">m</span>Mulai-Hassan,<span class="elegant">e</span>and<span class="elegant">e</span>the<span class="elegant">s</span><span class="absolutely_normal">sewer</span>s<span class="elegant">c</span>have<span class="elegant">a</span>been<span class="elegant">p</span>talkative<span class="elegant">e</span>lately.<br /><br />
Please check your updates for further information.

Note the bolded setion - 'sewer' is in 'absoulutely normal' text while the 's' on the end is just standard like the rest. Testing this as a webpage http://www.landalan.org/sewer/ got me to the 'three branches' page.
Following this logic there should be a way to get from the 'internet' page to the 'three branches' puzzle.

(from the source on the start page).

A google search for :

"Goal: developing the world of the information society."

Yields this : TUNIS AGENDA FOR THE INFORMATION SOCIETY.

Quite interesting, might provide useful information.

Hangman... good catch. I'm assuming when we find the path to the 3 branches page from the internet.html page, we will know our 3 branches. We have 2 now... Terminate, Sewer and now we need to find the last.

Hehe, I already tried "Terminate the Sewer Urchin" :p

I'll start poking around again on the Abilene page.

**in studying the page... I see that the div section styles are focus, text, tab and logo. They are nested divs, so I'm assuming they are trying to give us a message. The first letters of each style section are FTTL. A little research terns up that FTTL can mean Fault Tolerant Time Line (having to do with computer network design), Fiber To The Loop (telecommunications term) and it is the aiport code for Bol, Chad. Nothing overly helpful yet, but I would argue there is definitely a message here, as there is no need for so many nested divs. Maybe used in conjunction with the TBLR?
