I was talking about the original code flip back about 2 or 3 pages to find the original. But I'll save you the trouble.

I sincerely doubt that the second code has the same key but stranger things have happened.

Raspberry Which is driving me, and everyone else who touches the keyboard in a feeble attempt to crak it, crazy. Screwy

I believe, according to "The Kasiski/Kerckhoff Method," which deciphers the key length, the comment should have a key with a length of 6 characters.

sorry, it could also have a key length of the prime numbers of 6, as well as any multiple of 6, so possible 2, 3, 6, 12, 18, etc

I'm thinking the key is either 2 or 3 letters long based on w's J's f's and h's. I'll kep looking for common letters. I feel like a comlete idiot, do you think maybe they want us to wait for the update or what? Because personally I think we're the only ones working on this ARg even the ps3 forums have deleted the original topic.....

More communication with John Q. My email and his reply are below.

My original mail:
Quote:
I hooked up recently with the group trying to help you out with the
Land---- situation (just being careful, paranoia never hurts) and just
saw your latest blog post. Man, that hurts. My heart goes out to you.
Has there been any contact with your 'inside friend' lately? Anything
happening you don't feel comfortable putting out in public? We're here
for you!

- XS

John's reply:

Quote:

XS,

The paranoia is definitely warranted. I have asked Jon a few things, and
gotten back the information. I don't trust it to the internet though. I
will have to leave it at a drop somewhere in Portland for your group to
pick up. I'll contact you and others in your group when I have that set
up.

As for other things happening... well, the thing with my sister is really
disturbing. I was telling them about this odd organization and such,
explaining why I got fired, but it wasn't until I said Jon's name that
they told me they didn't want to hear anything else.

At first I thought... but no, that would just be too coincidental...

...

You see... the man my sister, Emily, married... his name is William Russel...

That can't be it though, could it?

I've also received a reply:

Quote:
Weyrlady,

Yes, I do have some more information, some of it disturbing. But I'll have
to leave it at a drop. It's too sensetive for digital transmission. I'll
give you or someone in your group the heads up at least a few days before the drop, but it will happen before Labor Day.

As far as I can tell though, you have to get further on the inside than I
can to really crack this. I'll have to leave that to you guys, and just
talk to Jon.

I'll be in contact, but I don't have regular internet access, so I'll have
to get back to everyone who contacts me all at once.

My personal feeling is that the extended code is written in the same cipher/key combination as the original. I think it is there to give us a larger sample in terms of cracking. However, I'm still not getting anything firm yet in terms of key length. I'm seeing spikes at 7 and 10.

I believe the division into groups of 5 is standard cryptographic practice. It gets rid of standard word patterns/lengths, and makes it easier to check for correctness. The 3 and 4 character groups at the end are leftovers.
