[Update] The Ooze Zone 26th July 2006 - Joyless
Quote:
Joyless
I kept an eye on your tracking reports as I headed south down Sharp Avenue and into the Old Town. The car took a little while to push out of the road, and I'm not as healthy as I should be, so I was a distance behind the delivery truck when the signal disappeared.
But I kept going (coughing up my lungs along the way), and checked out the place where it vanished. No obvious signs. No big lead-lined warehouses. No tyre tracks. The Brotherhood of the Six temple was right there, and I knocked on the gate to see if the brothers and sisters had seen or heard anything. No joy.
They could be lying, of course. Then again, a lot of stuff goes missing in Caldera, where you don't survive without being a wise monkey: see no evil, hear no evil, and, most of all, speak no evil to the authorities.
Also, I may have been looking a little disheveled after a car crash and a jog across town. If someone banged on my door in that state, I wouldn't have been too hospitable either. Maybe we'll get a search party together and give the area a proper going over.
I think that's me for the night. Tomorrow, I have to face Crowley. I'll need all my strength for that.
Looks like Caine will be apologising to Crowley and the missing item appears to be somewhere in Caldera.
So what's next?

Is it too obvious to suggest that the Brotherhood are in on it?

Bugger and blast, I missed the whole thing
So do we suggest our comrades go searching around Caldera (and possibly begin composing limericks for them....), or do we have any links to the Old Town, someone who lives there, someone like... well I'm not sure. I'll ask Caine. And Kurt, Violet etc.
Perhaps time to rattle off another email to old Sister Flynnt?

Not sure about Karen but Anna definitely lives there. It's also where Miranda used to live and is home to the Five of Cups so clearly an area of extreme dodginess (Anna aside... probably )

Yes, Karen lives there - or at least did when she recorded the message that we found through the crypto backdoor

This was a direct reference to Robert Drake being attacked .
I think that the Old Town is the equivalent to the sort of areas you find in most large, established cities - it's not the upmarket area where the money can be found, it's a bit darker...somewhat seedier...I'm not sure of an American equivalent, but I'm thinking of London's East End. Not necessarily a war zone day to day, but certainly, it's where a lot of organised crime is reputed to be based, it's regarded as being a bit "shady", and sounds perfect for shifting stolen goods.*

*Except the Old Town doesn't have the dashing good looks of Prince European Chris.

Actually, so as not to get too confused here - the Artists Quarter is on the northwest side of the city. Karen does not live in Old Town.

Yikes, yes. That article doesn't say that at all...I saw the references to the Old Town, and didn't register their editorialising about the fact that with this attack coming in the Artist's Quarter, it indicated that violent crime was spreading beyond the Old Town. My bad.

Well, I've emailed Kurt, Caine, Violet and Anna asking if they know anyone in the Old Town that might know something, and I've also emailed Sister Flynnt (although I'm not sure what good that will do, I seem to remember she's a bit... you know... ).
Just have to wait and see I guess. I can't think of anyone else we know that lives in the Old Town...?
EDIT: Forgot to say, what I emailed to Sister Flynnt was basically (in longer words with better grammar) 'I want to write a book about the brotherhood so the people of Earth know how to properly worship the cube's gloriousness when we find it. Email is insufficient really, would you mind meeting with a friend of mine in PXC...? ' as I didn't want to go on about deliveries and such in case they do turn out to be in on it and got alerted.
Well subtle I know... but I suppose its better than saying "'Scuse me, did you nick some dangerous equipment from the Academy, at all? No? Oh ok then .". I hope !
