Talking about #40, it was one of the few cards with number strings that Arnezami and I couldn't find a shape on. Good job as I hadn't even noticed it myself until now!

Indeed. It does look a bit like a shape.

Its very small though compared to the others.

Hmmm.

OK cube hunters, I was watching HGTV yesterday> a show called "I want that" (stick with me here...) and there was this designer who made "minimalist" scratching pads for cats, well she did so by using a program that would take a word, and turn it into a X-axis and Y-axis value. Only thing is that the line value for each word....(wait for it) is EXACTLY what the lines arnezami has looks like.
Each set of numbers, it's a word. seriously, we need to find this program, and just run it backwards, so the lines turn into words.....
*I almsot droped a load in my pants when i saw her screen, it's not close to what i feel is right, guys, i think this is Spot on!*

(she typed in "tree", and it looked like this:)

Hey guys - I've been lingering around here with nothing useful to say for a while, so be nice now that I think I have!!!

I just picked up what DarkHuman was talking about and ran with it a little and came up with this...

http://www.everydaystudio.com/

Check out the HGTV video at the bottom. Is this what you were talking about DH? Seems like a long shot - but I guess anything is possible!

I've dropped an e-mail to their info@ address, maybe they'll be able to help....

I've asked for details of their algorithm, but also included the numbers if they just want to look at those (they may not want to give away their algorithm).

(hopes for a reply)

Well, I just decided not to wait on an email, and called them Laughing
the message says that they are doing an art show in NYC from Aug 8th to Aug 20th. (funny, she lived in london, and now she's in San Fran.)
guess we just have to wait a week. Sad

anyone know where to find their algorithm?

DH - Does it say the name of said show - someone in the area could pop in and see her in person to ask her in person. I am hoping this is the answer, but ours rarely seem to cross themselves, whereas hers do. That could just be part of the alg. but...

If someone can find out what the name of the show is and tell me what exactly I am supposed to show or ask her, I will be happy to try to find out. Not sure if she will give away and trade secrets, but I will ask if I can.

I can't tell you how much joy I feel about the idea that the clue to finding the cube is a reverse algorithm from a minimalist cat scratching post design company. I was trying to describe this to my partner last night, but it was very hard to get through a sentence. Brilliant find. Hope it's true.

Good idea about what the lines could mean. I checked the website and for page about her on her website it says behind the curtain Surprised

Not sure if it is correct but worth checking out.

Looks interesting...

It might be possible (and perhaps quicker) to just try and work backwards from the information the website gives us to work out the algorithm

We're given 6 words (Products, shop, about... etc.) with their respective shapes (presumably...) and so we should be able to work out how the thing works.

At first site it looks like each letter is represented by a length and a rotation or direction:

the word SHOP has the same number of lines as letters, and if the word "WHOLESALE" is treated as a track that can be doublebacked on there's a route that gives nine lines.

This is only at first glance... I'm going to explore it further.

The mapping to from letters to directions is:
letter Direction Distance
a E 1
b S 1
c W 1
d N 1
e E 2
f S 2
g W 2
h N 2
i E 3
j S 3
k W 3
l N 3
m E 4
n S 4
o W 4
p N 4
q E 5
r S 5
s W 5
t N 5
u E 6
v S 6
w W 6
x N 6
y E 7
z S 7

If that is the algorithm then I don't think it works for our number strings. Ours never turn back on themselves (and in only one case turn more than 90 degrees (the end of card 96)). The frequency of non-repeated numbers (i.e. strings of length 1) is high, which would correspond to too many A, B, C and D. Then there are those .5 numbers as well.

A thought I had was that the numbers outside the -s have 256 combinations, which could correspond to the puzzle cards themselves. e.g. 1-xxxx-1 1-xxxx-1 has outer numbers 1111 which could mean card 001, up to 4-xxxxx-4 4-xxxxxx-4 -> 4444 which could mean card 256.

For the record the numbers are
Card/ Number/Might mean card
029 - 1331 - 040
040 - 2314 - 099
058 - 2441 - 124
060 - 1143 - 014
063 - 3121 - 132
090 - 4132 - 201
094 - 2211 - 080
096 - 1434 - 059
136 - 3143 - 142
156 - 2424 - 119
188 - 4224 - 215
191 - 2211 - 080
192 - 3411 - 176
203 - 4433 - 250
218 - 2213 - 082
222 - 4234 - 219
235 - 1441 - 060
236 - 4332 - 233
237 - 3122 - 133
250 - 4112 - 193
253 - 1421 - 052
