Another query... Do some of the blobs correspond to the shapes of Risk territories?

I looked at this way bac... oh. It was only last weekend. Hmm.

Answer: I don't think so. I can't make a lot of the blobs match up with any of the countries. This is why I have emailed Kurt to see if there's a version of 'risk' or something like it in Perplex City.

But if anyone feels like taking another look at the countries, that might be a good idea. Maybe enlarge them, cut them out, spin them in all directions on top of a Risk board?

There are 28 subway stations, actually. Better hit that thing back.

Yeah. You're right. The new cards contained new stations of course. My bad.

Poozle: to answer your post earlier, the blobs on 58 and 60 are actually a single image of a risk horseman, chances are the other blobs are also bits of risk models highly magnified then cut up.

Hmmmm, could be, I'm not familiar with Risk so I don't know anything about the pieces.

I've got it!

The shapes on those cards make up a map of britain....

I haven't figured the whole jigsaw out just yet, but it's seems that the shape on card #60 is all of the south coast (Lands End across to Dover & as far north as Birmingham, ...with Northfolk, sufolk & essex missing to the east)

The shape on card 29 looks like the middle section of Scotland.

I think #192 might be the North East (Northumberland down to Hull)

Maybe I'm wrong... but it also seems to work so far.

I guess the Cube's in Britain... Although I think we all guessed that already.

Jon.

Had a quick a look and i dont think this has been noted...
Card #222 (Instigator) also has strange shaped blob on it, in the top left of the card. Strange thing is, it looks almost identical to the blob on #253 Confused

Excellent thought, that man. Knew some of those shapes were familiar.

Going OOG, it wouldn't suprise me if the cube was in Britain, purely for the reason that everyone's forgotten how tiny Mind Candy and Perplex City were when the whole thing kicked off, what with the exponential growth of the game in the last 8 months (good gravy, have I really been playing that long?!) Anyways, just to make the point that things such as 'fair', 'equal chance' and 'accessible' may have been pushed to one side by considerations along the lines of 'tiny budget'.

Like I said, you Americans offer me 50% and I'll go get it for you Wink

Sounds fair!

So ok assuming it is a map of the UK.

We have a map of the UK
Risk models and dice rolls from the game
prime numbered playing card suits
"the message on the cards"
and random (but never above 4) number strings

Have I missed anything?

Assuming they link together, any ideas on how?

erm...so, not having the cards, is 60 the risk horseman or a geographic shape, then?

60 is the risk horseman, matches up with 58 perfectly.

freelance Cube hunters

I have been wondering if there is a way to create some sort of freelance list of players who could track down reasonable guesses from players who can't reach the geographic location. I haven't sorted it out yet, but I think it could be fairly easily done.

The idea would be that the player with a proposed solution could contact a player who lives nearby the location. That player would check the solution for the cube and report back.

This depends upon both players agreeing to keep the information secret until the location is checked out and possibly afterwards, based on the whether the finder of the suggested location wants it published.

One idea I had is an impartial go- between - possibly here at unfiction or Mind Candy - that would get copies of all emails or data shared from one player to another. That way a third party would know the information and could act as a sort of information escrow service.

I suppose some sort of advance arrangement as to paying for costs (and possibly, though not necessarily sharing the prize) would be agreed in advance between the two players.

This would benefit players who are working alone or in a small group that doesn't span the globe. It would enable a player in Australia or the Cayman Islands, for example, to feel they have a chance at actually getting the cube.

This is just a rough idea, but I wondered if there might be any interest in it?

Well I'd be interested in helping people, I'm in the UK so it wouldn't be too much of a problem.
