I think that that MySpace page was the way to go. Sounds interesting.

And it appears that Guy... knows nothing about this man. So don't go hassling him. I already did.

I believe I've read all this thread, and I meant to weigh in earlier, but was too lazy to...

It seems to me we aren't exploiting all the available resources. We can digg up the website, but the easiest way to garner attention to people who don't read digg and aren't that technically inclined is to make a MySpace/Friendster/Orkut/whatever profile for Satoshi and then add him to your friend network. Sure, many people despise MySpace, but take one for the team. The more he's seen the more likely he is to be recognized.

I've done the MySpace search for all person with the name Satoshi and pictures and haven't found him. That probably would be too easy in any case.
Also the google query site:myspace.com kaysersberg yields this guy (myspace.com), who I've referred to the website, but from whom I've heard no response.

Additionally, can anyone get a mixi.jp invite? It's Japan's most popular social networking site with something like 5 million members. Note also that it's all in Japanese and unfortunately my Japanese is no longer what it once was. We should create a Satoshi profile there as well.

I've done phone directory searches in the Haut-Rhin Alsace region as well.

Also, there was the Small World Research project at Columbia University where researchers confirmed Milgram's six degrees through email. They assigned 300 people to each of 20 targets. Here's the Wired article (wired.com) on the project. I participated in it, but got no response, and if I recall correctly, they only gave a name and picture as well.

So theoretically if everyone here emailed everyone they knew asking those people to email everyone they know with Satoshi's picture and name and then asked that whoever recognized him contact the website, that should be an effective strategy. Since I know most people are sensitive about forwarding on their chain emails, we could ask everyone we know in an online social networking environment like MySpace, where it would be more socially acceptable to spam your friends, to do the same.

As a final, semi-off-topic note. I'm totally bemused at the various options people are bringing up who "look like" this guy. So I've decided to throw out some fun links exploring the phenomena:

The classic AllLookSame.com (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean?)

The American Psychological Association's Why do 'they all look alike'? - "It's not that people can't perceive subtle differences among those who belong to other racial groups. Rather, they code race first, then don't explore a person's more distinguishing features, a new study suggests."

A Times UK article on face-blindness (timesonline.co.uk).

All Crackers Look the Same! t-shirt (cafepress.com) - "Granted, to non-Asians, all Asians look the same. But can you tell different white people apart? Without the suit, that guy in your office might look just like Joe Dirt."

Finally, an ESPN article White Like Larry (espn.com). If you don't have an Insider subscription (so you can read it all), somebody wholesale ripped it off and posted it here (sportingnews.com).

I created a Satoshi myspace for all who think that is a good idea. The

email:biltooneSPLATyahoo.com
password is S3cur1ty
For all who want to edit it. I would put his picture on it and start putting the photo on, but it says the server is too busy. Anyone else to try would be good, and start adding random people to his friends to see if somebody knows him.

*Edit: Got the pic up, I am going to start adding random people now. Lets see what this does, if anyone wants to help, feel free!

I agree... Not a lot of info, but what's there is intriguing! His name is Satoshi and he's in France. Even the age seems about right (30). What else do we need? LOL

Adding to my previously posted suspicion, as of today, Scarlett doesn't have the time to post any more puzzles on her page now? And this is just a couple of days after I posted that suspicion. Hmm... This is getting curiouser and curiouser! Shocked

**edit**
I hope there's more to that clue, than to merely point us to France, since we already know that! Confused

Added Smile

I'll message my admittedly very small network about him.

Did anyone turn up anything from messaging the Satoshi in France on MySpace?

I doubt it, he hasn't logged on since March.

After getting Zach Braff as one of my friends, I've requested Satoshi to be added too!

Should spread it a bit...

Do they send you an email if you are messaged on MySpace? I guess that would be our only hope.

I've tried images at yahoo. I can't find anyone who resembles him, but as we have no idea when the picture was taken and how old he is now I could have missed him.

However my sister says he looks like the guy out of the heat magazine whose head is superimposed over a celebs body and you win a prize for finding him. As I don't buy that mag if anyone out there does it might be worth a look.

Found him! Found Satoshi!

I found an avatar of Satoshi!

Well, he talks a bit funny: http://www.image-me.com/gallery.php. Simply enter 'satoshi' in the Search box and his video avatar will display embeded! Laughing

Brilliant stuff!
