Hi

I have been sending e-mails to various different people in Japan and making comments in people's blogs.
One guy in Japan kindly agreed to put a Satoshi add into his blog.

Additionally, can anyone get a mixi.jp invite? It's Japan's most popular social networking site with something like 5 million members. Note also that it's all in Japanese and unfortunately my Japanese is no longer what it once was. We should create a Satoshi profile there as well.

I tried mixi, but I realised that you need to be introduced by somebody else in order to register. But this guy from Japan seems to be a member and he put his add in mixi! He says he has not got any reply, but it's been only a few days, so you never know....

I've been fascinated by the background to this guy, and by some of the thinking of hunters earlier in this thread.
Does Satoshi realise the extent to which his photo and name are being spread around the world? Did he realise the potential for worldwide recognition when Mind Candy enlisted him for this challenge? Did he initiate the exercise himself? (there doesn't appear to be any puzzle architect) Or is he oblivious to all the fuss?!
Might his particular role in this exercise be linked to his job or background – for instance there are some interesting Satoshi's in the field of sociology. Has he some kind of vested interest in testing the Six Degrees of Separation theory?
Has he gone into hiding to make the exercise harder? Or is he bound to release more clues as we get closer to identifying him? Has he been briefed in any way – like some people suggest he may have an answer – but what if we find him and he has no idea about Mind Candy or Perplex City?
Has anyone thought about maybe pooling our ideas about the Satoshi's it isn't – i.e. people called Satoshi who clearly aren't our man. (Yes, I know there's a lot of them around!)
Maybe some kind of spreadsheet of false leads could be built up. We must have already built up quite a lot of Google hours between us.

Well I think he's informed about the whole thing. Fiona at MC said in an email that they're "being quite careful about the whole thing." I'm sure they'll have obtained his consent or they'd be in a rather messy legal position if anything happend to him because of this.

This is wide spec some of which I posted on another Fred, so I'm sorry for the repetition, but this has been bugging me:

Could Satoshi be in-game? This would solve the "Does he know the scale of what is happening to him?" problem. What with Card 256 being the last card (of the original 256), I have a feeling that it might give it more significance than other cards. Maybe finding Satoshi is key to finding the cube? Of course, knowing my past history of spec I will be wrong so immediately discount this idea.

No wait, just stay with me for a moment. If this were to be right and he is in-game then either:

a) he wants to be found, he may or may not have had input into the cards (e.g. the Find Me message) and should be trying to help us find him if he is at all able and not prevented by some evil powers which would make our job easier

or

b) he does not want to be found in which case he may be on the side of the evil powers and will be actively hiding, covering traces, also (if he is from Perplex City) he probably would not have a past Earth history which is what some of our enquiries have been trying to dig up

or

c) maybe I should get out more.

I don't know if this takes us any further forward. Anyone tried Friends Reunited?

I'm with you on the 3rd option Wink

When talking to Fiona about the wording on the billion2one site, she said:

Quote:
We are worried that people will construe this as meaning that Mr. X will be able to assist in the hunt for the Cube, or that he may know where it is, neither of which are likely to be the case.

Which can be taken either way... A typically vague MC response Smile

But I can't get my head round a possible plot that would make Satoshi in-game. The cards are designed in Perplex City and sent to be printed here on Earth - if he's here on earth and is in-game then how would he get a whole card based on himself? I know there's the question of how the additional markings got on to the Wave 4 cards, but a whole puzzle seems to be a bit of a big move.

We're going to be overthinking this aren't we?

I bet Satoshi works in a well known burger and fries outlet Razz

Maybe, in order to solve this, we need an almost completed map. If we're going with the pxc link then maybe there is a clue there. I always wondered what the map was for. Question

We've used the map several times now. Offhand, I can think of that time we had to match locations to the note Violet found, then there was the AQSYS navigation... it's even used to solve one or two cards already, I'm sure.
