what do you all think?

I found this page through yahoo images. This photo was taken 10 years ago but this satoshi looks a lot like our billion to one. AND he is Japanese. Am I wrong? Doesn't this guy look like a younger version of the guy on the card? Just wanted other opinions.

Which one lol??

I don't think either of them look anything like him and I'm sticking to my thought that to find Satoshi will take more than Googling and looking at pictures. MC know that this is how we solve most of the cards and as this is supposed to be one of the hardest cards to solve I think it will take something more inventive than that.

By the way, there is a player called Satoshi registered on PXC as a player but he/she has no statistics or email address etc. and hasn't solved any cards yet - suspicious ??

I emailed MC to ask if they had been cheeky and this was the Satoshi we're looking for but no reply . . . I'm not sure I emailed the correct address though so does someone else wanna try? If you log on to your account and go to community and search players 'Satoshi' you get the result. If it is wouldn't that be evil, putting him in the game where they know its the last place we would look Smile

Find Me
Silver #256

Just checked on card catalog and apparently there have only been 489 failed attempts to solve this card - three of them would be mine. Would it help if we were to make a list of all the attempts made so far to avoid others making the same mistakes?

There are a number of Satoshi's on MySpace.

Have any of them been checked?

Ok, I blame my foggy contacts and lack of sleep. Or, maybe I am just graspin' for those straws... oh well...

Satoshi on PXC leaderboard

I searched for satoshi on the leaderboard a few weeks ago and couldn't find him but now as sirichj says, he is there. Is there any way of finding out when a player joined?

It may however just be a MC or fellow player joke!

PXC Satoshi

Sadly the community pages don't tell you the information but working logically, if there are over 50000 players registered, Satoshi is number whatever it was, 39 thousand or something with 0 points. Therefore there must be another 11000 or so players joining after Satoshi which I would imagine would go back a few months at least and I wouldn't be surprised if Satoshi registering was around the time the 4th wave was released.

Anybody know any ways to check ?

I have still had no reply from MC, does anyone know an email address I could try except the customer services one?

This isn't completely useful, but I was exchanging comments with someone on my LJ regarding Operation Bayonet, and she apparently knew about finding Satoshi despite not having a plue what Perplex City is. So what we're doing is working to some extent.

(Anyone want to join me in the "Satoshi's on the 110th floor of Ascendancy Point" brigade?)

New ideas, at least I hope so

I blame spam for the lack of progress on the email front. It was a good idea, but too many people must be like me, and delete messages with cryptic subjects without reading them. Or not forwarding them on because people you know have complained about forwards.

Anyhoo, I was thinking of other things to try. I haven't really every message of this thread, but hopefully my searching skills were enough for me to avoid a trouting. Here's what I got:

1) I don't suppose anyone works for the CIA, FBI, Interpol, etc.. or knows someone who does. I bet you could do a pretty good face search in a place like that. Well, assuming you worked in the right area and didn't mind risking your job and possible federal prison time.

2) The YouTube video idea has been mentioned, and that could work. The right video can really make rounds, and even end up on national TV shows. I was thinking something along the lines of adding the website/picture/info at the beginning or end of the video.

Of course, the video would have to be something special. Anyone out there mind jumping head first off their house into a pile of cinder blocks for Perplex City? No? Maybe just do something really goofy and put it to techno music.

3) I noticed that there is no Billion To One or PXC related Satoshi article on Wikipedia. That may get some hits. Too bad there isn't a way to make it the Wikipedia article of the day so lots of people would see it.

4) About as probable as #1, but anyone have a rich relative who wouldn't mind taking out a large ad in major newspapers? I think this has been mentioned before as well.

That's all I have for now. Think I'll try to contact Pinky and The Brain. They could probably come up with something, although their success rate has been less than stellar.

I think I read on Perplexorum earlier that the Satoshi hunt has now been featured on ABC - maybe it was somewhere else I'm pretty tired today

That's pretty cool, and just made me think of something that I really should have thought of before. Neutral

One of my wife's friends has a brother who is a writer for The Soup on E! (http://www.eonline.com/on/shows/thesoup/). I should get in touch with him and see if they wouldn't mind doing something. Granted they would make fun of it, but I could see them doing something like a weekly "Where is Satoshi now?" segment or something. In any case, that would be huge exposure.

Yep, it was me! http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=2820107

The site was also on David Pogue's New York Times blog and Aleks Krotoski's Guardian games blog.

(Before that it was on Neatorama and then Digg, where it was on the front page. And, I have already checked out both of the leads proposed in the comments on several of these -- neither one is our guy.)

I'm working on Wired, NPR and others! Smile

polarrose

Article about this website in the paper. It's a facial recognition device which links pictures on the web. I've signed up for the beta, waiting. Not sure whether it would help from their description. Problem would be of course that there are now hundreds of pictures which we've posted, so finding another source would be more complicated. If anyone who's more in this world wants to talk to the people, and persuade them that with the end of the game, they might get some publicity, their website is www.polarrose.com. Sorry if it's been mentioned before, but I couldn't find anything through search.
