I think the card background illustrates the transition from floppy vibrant vegetation to rigid deadwood...

...Suddenly it all makes perfect sense... I didn't look at it like that but now you say it it seems obvious - knowing the answer, I should have worked that out!

Haven't tried a spoiler before. Hope it works. Sorry if it doesn't

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's been said before I know, but the answer is in the forum. Watch your spelling. I made the same mistake I think others made, and asumed my answer was wrong until I luckly came across the correct spelling

Thanks to everyone for your hints and hard work[/spoiler]

ok, still confused!
i have:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the lion eating poem, the explanation (that it is disyllabic homophony), the tonal chart (pinyin)
and still dont know where im going.
and wiki keeps closing and getting that "send to microsoft" error whenever i try to scroll down the page.

any clues or hints as to what to do now?

All you need is the
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
lion eating poem. Read the last line.

Sounds like it's suffering from a severe case of the answer to this card...

You are close in one of your answers:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
What is the "Clinical explanation" for those stone corpses?
