Cross-posted here for completeness:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The first of these is a famous code

edit: Has anyone tried using the following?
http://la.wikisource.org/wiki/Liber_abbaci (the original source of the numbers used the first book)

edit: checked all pages of Liber abbaci and they don't work.

Another cross-post for completeness/convenience:

The key for the Beale is also not the transcription of the new libraryofbabel-Dissolution text.

If each number becomes a letter, then 6 could possibly be '@' giving us an email address.
Could be ctSPLATSomeQuiteLongAndDificultToGuessDomainName.com
Or maybe a subdomain of one of the already known domains:
ctSPLATLibraryOfBabel.perplexcityacademy.com

Either way we would have to count punctuation in the letter counts to get the dots.

a program that claims if we enter in JUST the #'s it can find the text.

just it costs $$$ (got the demo, but it will not let you enter in your personal codes to crack.)>>and i can't find anywhere to get it for free.

Anyone else starting to get tempted?!? Confused

I would be if I believed it worked on our specific problem... Maybe we should send the problem to them and say that we'll buy the software if they can guarantee their software will decode it by just entering the numbers...

Incidentally, other texts that don't work:

Magna Carta (Latin or English)

Running out of inspiration for other texts to try, feel we're in danger of losing momentum here.

Haven't been able to find any Harry Potter books online (continuing someone's earlier thought of other books with 'secret locations'). Might try this at home by hand but more in hope than expectation.

Well, more in desperation than hope to be honest! Bang Head

The only comfort I'm taking at the moment is that this is probably a less important puzzle since we haven't been led by the nose to the solution as we have with other problems recently.

Worth a try, not convinced they'll reply positively but it doesn't hurt to ask!

(Also - The Emancipation Proclamation is a no go.)

Perhaps this has something to do with Unicode? I know that the punctuation would come before the text in that case. Unfortunately, I haven't found an encoding where 6 is anything meaningful.

One door shuts and another one slams in your face.

Evil or Very Mad

Has anyone tried doing a book cipher on all 5 books described on the card together? The first number on the first book, the second on the second, etc. cycling round the five?

Off topic here but thought I'd try to draw attention to a similarly unsolved puzzle printed on a card which may bring some extra website/hints/etc.

It attracted brief interest and then everyone got distracted by other puzzles...

Apologies for the interruption - as you were everyone.

This is one of the few Blacks I have so I'm interested in this one.

The Beale cypher on the card is presumably from CT, and we don't know how to crack it. The word JOKER in the bottom right seems to relate to earlier wave 1-3 cards which reference playing cards.

But I can't remember seeing the playing card references on other Wave 4 cards. So this card either links the two puzzles or JOKER is the clue to the Beale.

Unfortunatly I'm too dumb to solve either.

Hi,

Just been reading this having (finally) found the 5 books, and was interested in the numbers.

Anyhoo, if this is an artefact in the card design from PPC (as with other CT puzzles?) and all the other gumph that appeared on wave 4 cards surplus to the actual puzzles, then might this not affect the choice of cypher texts?

I haven't any particular ideas as to texts to try, but if the presumtion is that CT put the code on the card, the text will be either a PPC book, or an earth book available in PPC. I know they have a lot of Earth stuff, but can't recall much being said about books/literature. Maybe there is a 'hidden location' type book that was particularly successful over there.

Or have we been told about any particular literature/authors that are successful over there?

Has anyone tried the book that 'we' wrote for Violet so she could get access to the Diary?

Also, back on the secret location book idea - what about the secret garden?
