 Virus
Billion to Virus

Hi! I've been following all the ideas on this card and I think that we've lost the way... Maybe we could try to do a "good" Virus to expand the Satoshi's photo. I'm quite sure that is the fastest way to have publicity everywhere.
And if not... well, keep looking! I've tried to send the information of the game and, specially, of this card to a program in the TV but it doesn't seem that they've taken interest on the subject.

hmm

It would be fairly easy to set up some spy/adaware that redirects peoples home page to Billion to One, set it up in ad's in lots of public places. And let it run.

Eventually Spybot and Adaware will pick it up, but it would get a good run before that. Likely this type of worldwide attack is very illegal. And Its likely Unifiction wouldnt want to be connected to it. In fact this post will likely be deleted.

It IS on the other hand the quickest way to MAKE people give it a look. It is also a really good way to get HUGE publicity. If techie shows pick up that a GAME has caused a worldwide spyware or virual Infection... it WILL be
publicized.

I would say group some friends in a less public forum and give it a try. Do NOT make it public information on Unifiction. If you are quiet enough about it you will likely get a good infection radius before it is spybotted away.

People will realize its not a real spybot or Adaware, and will realize the intention is not to harm anyones computer so likely it will not cause any major upset, but people wont look at it in a positive light.

There is no such thing as a "good" virus, worm, adware, spyware, etc. Please, please, PLEASE do not try this. Thank you.

Yep, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease no one attempt this - it would be a criminal offence and I don't particularly want billion2one.org associated with such activities Smile

I also don't think MC would want to be associated with this, and given they created this card they would why get so much bad press.

Aye. I didnt even think of how this would affect the person hosting the Billion2one site. ... Be prepared to host a mirror with a different WHOIS info so you are the one responsible.

Basicly the community as a whole would generally frown at this. Its dangerous for all involved. Its less of a game mechanic and it pushes into the realm of criminal hacking.

If you were take these risks fully upon yourself... well who knows. Good luck i guess. Is the completion of this card worth possible criminal Penalties?

Now on the other hand. You could host some ad's on the Billion2One site and then use that cash to put up Billlion2One ad's in many more locations, Like Yahoo, and Hotmail, and MilkandCookies, high hits sites that host ads.

Another thought before i go. Has anyone thought of contacting the Milk carton people? Add Satoshi's pic on missing person pics on milk cartons and somone is bound to recognize him. Lots of people drink milk Smile

We havent exausted every legal avenue of finding this guy, lets hit up some more obscure methods before we delve into the dangerous methods, i mean simply for the community and everyone involved.
Lets keep this clean ... at least for now.

Mmmm.... we could get all ethical about this too. When you think about it, if Satoshi's photo is appearing on a milk carton, then that's one less really missing person who's photo could appear on those cartons...

Hi, I didn't mean to do anything illegal, although I understand that the word Virus was too hard... Obviously, the fastest way to expand news is Internet and email lists or email-chains like to ones for many other things may be legal ways to reach even more people that you've reached till now...
I have no idea about the price for putting adds in google or yahoo, maybe this would be a good starting point. Also, a japanese site with many hits would be a very interesting one.

Surely this discussion should be taking place in the correct Puzzle Card thread for Billion To One... http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16148

Mods can you lock this thread?
