Spoiler (Rollover to View):
working on the premise that the UV bits are passable when the sun is up, and aren't when it's not

i figured it was 284 seconds. i was wrong. as was 285 and 283

i didn't go into the first room (top right) but reading the text again, it implies that the sacrafice passes through each room

Question

Why not try it the other way round now?

might be worth someone trying 280 - i'm out of attempts Sad

in my 284 calculation, when crossing room 2, i went 4 across and 4 up.

if diagonal moves are allowed, it'd knock 4 moves off

is it worth people posting links to their routes?

What gets me about this card is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

the apparent over use of the UV "blockers". If the solve truely is to do with these tiles blocking the way in some form, then MC would have been a little more elegant and only put them in strategic places to create the same effect. This is also a black and should be tricky, so the less uv ink you use, the less obvious that it's there.

Perhaps these are lit tunnels?

hint below.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
At least one person was right on the money here as far as their guess about how the shortest path runs.

More of a hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think they miscounted though.

Right. Here are my assumptions, and my route.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The sun starts out.
You can't pass a UV tile when the sun is out.
Going through a room puts the sun in/out. You have to go through the room, not just step in and out.
no diagonal steps.

http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~dtb26/huey334.png

My count is right for this. If you start with the sun in and skip the first room it's obvious you subtract 50 from my result. If you step into the first room and double back, you subtract 18 from my result. All three of these result in incorrect answers.

I love this card even more!
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Just received my black light pen from e-bay and tried it on the card, but it had no effect. I was quite disappointed and started to consider of this was completely the wrong track. On my walk from the car to the office I took the card out of my pocket and WOW!

I assume some of you have already found this out, but it seems that the ink used on this card is solar discoloration ink which only reacts to the short wavelength UV light emitted by the sun or UVB lamps. Most black lights (including my new one!) emit UVA at too long a wavelength for this to activate the ink. Windows block out the UVB so this doesn't work indoors and electric lighting does not emit the UVB.

This must be the first card that you can only solve by going outside in the daytime (a time dependent solve!).

If you haven't done this yet, the effect is impressive. Just shows you what UVB does to your skin…….

Gutted I still haven't got a solve for this and no guesses until tonight.

I hope it wasn't me who miscounted Embarassed

holey moley.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'd thought it was that other weird ink that you charge up with a lightbulb and then put in the dark. that didn't work.

Bloody hell, that is cool... it happens so fast too! This is a very cool card, but the 334 solve is the one I think is right. Obviously, I'm wrong, but the only other way is 'nipping in and out'. I hope it's not another one of the 'Bling Bunny' things, where there is 'an error in MC's database >.<...

I emailed them a "I think it's this but it doesn't work, is your ansewr right?" email a few days ago. I suspect you do something else.

I have a set of rules that lets the sacrifice get out somewhat faster than my last one, and I'm going to try that in... five hours.

Nice one. This card is my last one to solve Sad I need to buy more now. I need many many silvers, many blacks, and a couple of wave 4 purples downwards. But this card has got me stumped.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I am now sure that the rule: The secret ink blocks you WHEN THE SUN IS UP, because they are visible in sunlight. They DON'T BLOCK YOU WHEN THE SUN IS DOWN - just for the benefit of trout recievers, save them the trouble
