It does work, and looks really beautiful as well, BobbyJoeJackson and I did it backwards using red cotton on white cardboard! almagest, we had a look through your spreadsheet, and there were a couple of errors, firstly the y axis for the top and bottom sides is actually 7.00 to -7.00, which gained us some valuable centimeters, but you have repeated the last loop on each thread accross, which then lost us some as well! I have also added in the card thickness at 0.0005 m for all the passes, which got us closer to the 35.01 m target, but sadly not over.

On the actual finished picture there are loads of points on both sides where it ends up 1mm away from the surface. Even allowing 1mm for each doesn't quite make it!! That is real life versus calcs though isn't it!
