Personally, any site that appears out of nowhere and asks for a $5 donation is one that I would be suspicious of. Maybe someone should ask the webmaster if everything is on the up-and-up.

true enough, though I am a little appeased in that it doesn't seem to require it; you can access the site and its puzzles without payment. the only thing i'm concerned about is the six month (two month?) countdown and what the fiver has to do with it.

How'd you find this site, anyway?

one've my friends linked me to it. it's probably one of his friends that made it, or one of his friends' friends, or whatever. i hear down the grapevine that it used to be a warcraft clan site or something.

Google holds a cached version of misstheground.com which refers to "Crimson Manifesto" - Ring any bells?
Miss the Ground . com
Something witty was once here.
Something witty was also once here.
This is kind of a placeholder site at the moment. As you may notice, it's rather empty! There are other things -- HIDDEN THINGS! -- on this server if you know where to look, but you probably don't, but don't feel bad. Good things will come eventually. Anyway, this site will eventually be used by Crimson Manifesto to do some WoW-related things. Until then, don't change that dial!
NEW FOR YOU: forums.

yeah, if the warcraft clan thing is true, then that must be its name. if the site's no longer used for it, then i suppose it's been disbanded.
edit: on the other hand, it may have more to do with the site's current status than i thought. "good things are coming" perhaps refers to that countdown timer?

I've found four things hidden on the front page so far. Five, if the black rabbit counts as hidden.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1001 is binary for 9 and there's a secret message in Jabberwocky.
Found 1001.html in source code.
I tried 1001.html and found http://www.misstheground.com/6mos/1001.html
Can't tell if I went to the wrong thing or not...I think it's a dead end.

Just got to that point...thanks I was kind of stuck.

There are 4 underscores before the ".html" so I think the word is 4 characters in length.
Also there are 2 colors used on that page if you look closely (or at the source).
The slightly off color forms:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
a sort of leaning figure 8
but so far I havent been able to do anything with this earth-shattering info.

the four underscores don't mean anything; it just wants you to fill in the blank with what you've found

No-one's noticed yet that everything on that page points to '8' in one way or another, even the colour of the green is 0008000.
Maybe trying to nudge us to www.misstheground.com/6mos/8.html ?
I think it's just trying to tell us we've gone the wrong way, but I don't know, there could be more to these pages.

So, we've got (sorry for all the spoilers):
The misstheground.com page leading to 6mos/1001.com
then
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The 1001.htm page leading to
6mos/blackRabbit.html - told this is a Red Herring but also with the binary 1001 leading to 6mos/9.html
6mos/whiteRabbit.html - told to go back
and the code of the Jabberwocky leading to 6mos/brickWall.html
Moving on from there
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
6mos/9.html suggests that we try 6mos/figure.html
which might have relevance to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
6mos/8.html but this also seems to be a dead end
So, I'm stuck on
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Where to go from 6mos/brickWall.html
and how (if at all) the following pages link in:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
6mos/kingofsuits.html
which then seems to suggest
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
6mos/joyous.html and also back to an almost copy of the first page, but instead 6mos/I001.html.
This clone page then suggests the straehfothgie or eight of hearts backwards.
It also leads to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
6mos/diva.html with the answer to the riddle being Zappa
[/spoiler]

nice list, lyon. any idea what the relevance of
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
_A_ hidden in whiteRabbit and the i hidden in blackRabbit
are?
the translation of the text on the wall comes out to something like
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
when you have your five affairs in order, climb on through
if i remember correctly; maybe those are two of the five?

I thought of the five affairs as maybe the $5 he's asking for?
