Well gee golly gosh, Synthesis certainly schooled us po' uneducated foo's. Rolling Eyes

Y'know, for a group that doesn't seem to want us working with Travis, they're certainly doing a terrific job of making friends with us. I mean really, there's nothing more friendly than a steady dose of condescension.

Well.. Perhaps they are trying to have their strings attached to us too, and the real motive isn't to try and stop our work with travis, but to have us work with him in a way that is positive to their goal and perhaps more predictable..
That was a hard puzzle, but it seems like Synthesis is making it for an educational reason.. To make us see as many different ways of trying to encode it in advance and see how it looks for an unknowing eye?
And perhaps also to test us: "Exactly how many clues do they need to decipher it..?" -That might be considered important knowledge for their Forecasts.
By the way.. Did anyone submit the answer to them in any manner? perhaps to the blog? Or are they reading our minds? Rolling Eyes
I don't think their spelling matters very much, perhaps they are too busy with their other predictions, we mightn't be their only project, anyway.. Wink

What confuses me, is that for all of the time we put into "solving" the flawed code, it didn't tell us anything different than any other message they have been sending to us: "Leave us alone" and "we think you're stupid"... I mean really - the first solve was:

Quote:
YOU ARE INDEED CORRECT
WE ARE KEEPING TABS ON YOU
AND YOUR PHONECALL 2 ANGEL
SHE BELIEVED YOU NOT
ALL TOO LATE
YOUR NEXT MOVE IS NOT A HIDDEN 1 2 US
FOR IT IS 1 WE WILL KNOW

The second was :

Quote:
a wise sage among you understood the message
a message not intended for you
you are not wise to interfere in the affairs of others
you will not be able to help travis
for his life is ours as yours will be
We will be in touch with Travis once again to let him know his mistake

...So, after following this for close to a month what additional information have we gathered? Everything that people have spent time on trying to figure out has lead us to nothing more than what we already know.

Travis knows too much about something. It involves Synthesis. They know what/where he is doing and where he is. We aren't supposed to be involved. This is everything you know by just simply reading Travis' blog (which has inexplicably been taken over by Synthesis, and now Travis, our "hero" is MIA)

Not to mention the "clues" for the second puzzle. It was random and creative - but there is NO ONE OUT THERE that would have thought to take that number sequence, put it into grids of 2x3, and use Braille to figure it out from what we were initially given. Yet we were subjected (and I use the term loosely) to repeated condescension and told WE messed things up by not working quickly enough. Now Synthesis has to "rework" the game plan??? ECK...

Frankly, the storyline is intriguing, but.... Ok, I'll stop here and wait and see.

My piece is spoken; I will give this a little longer (but not too long).

Yet another new blog entry. Interesting. Seems they were pegging me for some sort of leadership role until I took the initiative to call them out on condescending behavior. Well, I'll throw my lot in with Travis until given proper evidence otherwise.

They make a mistake when telling us to look for Mimsy were the Borogroves.
The story is actually Mimsy were the Borogoves. It's title comes from the poem "Jabberwocky" from "Alice through the Looking Glass."
At this time I am unable to find a free copy of this story.
Edit:spelling mistakes

The blog is referring to "Mimsy were the Borogoves", a sci fi story written under the pseudonym Lewis Padgett, with the title borrowed from the line of the Jabberwock.

I havent read this story, and it is not in the public domain, so a trip to the library may be in order on that one.
Analyses of the story are available online.

I have noticed a reference to the story extolling concepts such as "non-euclidian space" "where 2+2 doesnt equal 4"...even though those concepts arent exactly related, either your pal is telling you once again to be prepared to think illogically, or, as most woudl suspect, your next puzzle will be solvable based on some insight you find in this story.

FYI, this story appears in at least one book: " A gnome there was : and other tales of science fiction and fantasy".

Not sure whether it matters anymore, since it seems people are jumping ship. Can't say I've not considered doing the same, but we'll see how this plays out.

I am not planning on leaving this ship yet. I want to see what happens. This games could still turn out to be really good and it seems like there is a lot of potential. We will see what happens with the next puzzle or two.

Okay, I was asked to not share any of this, but since people are thinking about jumping ship I wanna relate a bit of information to you.

I had an OOG conversation with one of the PMs -there are a few of them- a while ago. We were really just shooting the breeze, but one thing he mentioned is about 2 years of planning and a decent amount of cash has gone into this. For this sake -and that I'm sure this one won't fizzle- I'm going to stick around and watch it pan out. I would like to see a few people that are better at cryptography than I am stick around as well, I think this has some potential and what we're going through now is just the litmus test to see what we can and cannot do.

Including posting private communication in a public blog? I'm sorry, but I can't stick around for that. I wanted to play the game up until then, I was even willing to stick it out after being called out, but you don't do that. If other people want to keep playing that's cool, but I'm out.

S1547NY5: nope. It comes from one place and you must discover that place. That is the first clue to the traditional method.

6: she knows
S1547NY5: These are the rest of the clues. The new message is located within the blog. Visit there for more information. P1 is no more and will communicate with your group any longer. Thank you.

Amazon lists Shadowlands as containing "Wood Green Empire" multiple times.

Will aquire a Shadowlands as it looks interesting even if unconnected.

S1547NY5: http://www.immersionunlimited.com/index.php?topic=2600.0
S1547NY5: Please pass this one along. Open letter from me, an apologetic pm.
S1547NY5: Thanks.
JarsofDave: no problem
JarsofDave: shadowlands???
S1547NY5: This is not a game trick. It mis me from behind the curtain a tad. I royally screwed thing up by playing the psychological hot button too much.
S1547NY5: Yup, shadowland. The book.
S1547NY5: That is the viginiere key, the first wrap to the puzzle.
S1547NY5: Where was the information found? I made darn sure the quotes werent found in yahoo or google?
JarsofDave: we're just good

S1547NY5: I feel better, had to let it off my chest about what happened and why I did it. It was in keeping with the psychologicals of what they do. Game characters do their thing and to keep them believable, they do it well.
S1547NY5: Anyhow, time to get, plenty of work to do at home. Plenty to explain tomorrow. time to get behind the curtain and let the new puzzle do its magic. As a note, you do have ALL the clues to solve it. Congrats on picking up Shadowland so fast. the other strange things attached are for what you will find after unwrapping the Vig.

I say dont give up yet this is going to be really good... and we're going to need all the help we can get.

While I respect the fact that he posted an apology, I don't think I'll be returning to the game. The problem I have is with the usage of private messages, which I personally believe should be private unless the sender allows them to be used publicly. Other people feel differently and that's fine, but if that's considered an acceptable tactic for Synthesis to use, I don't want to continue in the game myself. Best of luck to those that are, though.

S1547NY5: Ont he blog, someoen freaked out about using private emails. If it is a private email from one game char to another on an ingame website, then it is faiur game.
S1547NY5: Nope, I was mionding the store alone all weekend.
S1547NY5: was frsuitrated that the solve wasnt coming alone for the level 2 puzzle, so I went nuts throwing hints galore andf getting quite chatty.
S1547NY5: the private email sent to me showed a shift of sympathy towards Synthesis. Which would kill the game dynamic.
S1547NY5: Travis warned that Synthesis is a real snake, able to play with psychological buttons like there is no tomorrow.

Dont give up...

I'm still in even though I haven't been able to make any worth while contributions. I'm a little lost now though. So, we have a new puzzle to solve on Travis's blog from Synthesis right? and the clues have been given? Can someone catch me up? Very Happy
