I can understand the need to stop printing them. Money is ultimately what will drive the game forward and it makes sense not to be left with a large pile of unsold cards when season 2 begins.

Having said that, I'd imagine that if there were cards that people would need at the end these would be silver ones.

Now clearly, by selling individual cards at this point, people would just buy those and not bother with the packs, but it would be nice to actually be able to complete the collection at some point.

Issuing extra silvers at the end would I agree decrease the rarity factor and may also lead to "leaderboard" issues; with some of those at the top who've had not only the ability to solve, but also the financial clout/luck to get all the cards might have something to moan about. For that matter i'd settle for cards without codes, just to get complete map etc.

MC have stated that there are many ways to be involved in PXC and the cards are but one of them. However those that are mostly into collecting the cards will feel pretty miffed that they will have gaps. (Putting off potential future customers isn't the greatest business move of all time i'd imagine.)

Considering the amount of effort that has recently gone into atttracting new players I think it would have been only fair to announce something along the lines of: "Hey, come and join in at wave 3/4, we've stopped doing some of the earlier cards by the way so you won't complete it but play if you like".

I've been in from the start so have less excuse, (other than a lack of disposable income), to get all the early wave cards. Those joining later however have not. And yeah, obviously there was going to come a time when the cards just stopped coming, but a little warning would have been nice.

this is the warning - they have only stopped printing them, it doesn't mean there aren't some left in the current billions of packs left unbought around the world.

and i disagree with the terminology - they havent been 'retired' they have just run out current stocks and aren't reprinting them - it makes sense, they can't keep printing season 1 cards forever and it *is* nearly over.

as i was saying last night in chat - people are expecting this to work like a CCG and its not. i don't think mind candy ever expected people to buy cards in such bulk, or that so many people would expect to be able to collect every single card - one of the main reasons of it being an ARG is that we *work together*, we share information on the cards each other doesn't have.

it would take *all* the fun, and skill, and luck or whatever, out of collecting the cards if MC sold them seperately - i already totally disagree with the way jaffas/deckboosters/ebay re-sells the cards, but i guess i can't stop people playing/collecting the way they want. however those people need to realise that the game is not designed or set up to cater to the 'hardcore' collectors, and that they shouldnt expect it to be so either.

but these are just my own opinions. personally i'm not too fussed with either the leaderboard or having a full collection - i'd rather get on with the story, and community solving of the cards we collectively have - hence spending so much time scanning and transcribing my own cards before i've even had chance to solve them myself.

if you want to play a different way then fair enough, but please stop complaining that its unfair - no one is forcing you to spend lots of money on cards, or forcing you to collect every single last one for yourself - it's your own choice thats making it so hard for yourself.

rach =)

Anyone know when they went out of print? Everytime I hear about card sales in Australia it seems to be that they are not selling, I reckon there are still packs that contain just 1&2 out here.

Yes, this is something I'd like to know too. When is the last time anyone got either of these cards? They've been out of stock at Jaffs/Deckboosters for a while. I'm assuming nobody got any in the mixed wave 1-4 packs? What about the mixed 1-3 packs?

I picked up 5 non-wave 4 packs today from Forbidden Planet (London). I was annoyed to find 29 duplicates, but pleased to find 1 Reimann.
There are still lots of Wave 1 cards out there. Judging from the cards, I picked up 4 wave 1 packs (i.e. pre-release 0.5 cards) and 1 wave 1-3 pack. I wish I remember what order I picked them in, as it was the wave 3 box I was after Sad

Were they mixed packs or pure wave 3 packs?

Okay, I just found out from one of the largest sellers of individual PXC cards that they have not seen either of these two cards since the Wave 1-2 mix boxes. That means there were none in the Wave 3 boxes. I'm going with that for now, but if anyone has one of these two cards with the Season and Wave printed on it, that would mean they were still being printed when Wave 3 launched.

pure wave 3 packs were only available from firebox in limited quantities iirc, not in boxes from distributors.

also - even if the cards were only in wave 1-2 mixed boxes, there are obviously still alot of these around, especially from sellers who got a box in to try them out and maybe didnt sell enough to stock the more recent waves.

Yup, that's all I can get around Perth, Western Australia. I've already got two Riemanns and a Shuffled.
