Try using a U.S. proxy -- something I've done in the past on Innertube and with the ABC online content.

for "proxy".

Anonymizers that hide your computer's IP address -- proxies are a way to make your computer appear to be in another geolocation, such as surfing from the United States instead of within Canada. ABC and other media outlets often are required to deliver content only to U.S. computers -- don't ask me why. Sports broadcasts need to do the same thing, for FIFA World Cup preliminaries shown only within Brazil, or Major League Baseball needing to restrict access from blacked-out cities, for example. The trick is to find a proxy that (a) is within the region that can access your event, and (b) lets you use it, either for free or limited membership. And no, I have no idea how to do any of this myself.

In Internet Explorer, if you go to Tools: Connections, and select "LAN Settings", you'll see a check box and input boxes for entering a Proxy to use.

Put the proxy info in there, and then try to access the content you wish to find.

As for finding proxies, you'll need to search and find working ones.

I had a glimmer of hope based on the first episode, but if the second episode is any indication of what is to come, this show isn't going to see November. The constant reminder of "The Stand" is deterring from my enjoyment slightly, but I recognize that they've said they are going to focus on the characters and not the search. But...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
With the show last night, they had to rush to get underground to avoid the radioactive rain following the blast. The line behind that was pretty boring. The side drama with the two escaped convicts wrapped itself up quickly in a single show. And the black guy who "used to be a cop in St. Louis" seems to be really more involved. And finding out over the radio that there were at least a dozen cities destroyed really fueled the whole correlation to The Stand.

The preview for next week shows them what? Heading out in every direction to search for survivors and to learn more about their situation? So much for focusing on the characters at this point it seems clear they're going to take this outside of the city of Jericho.

While a nice rumor, I don't think this is going to turn into an ARG.

I'm more inclined to believe that this show may not have a long running time... while (personally) the subject itself is really interesting - what would happen in a small town if the country did go to war? - it may not be interesting enough to the general mass tv audience for its running to remain worthwhile to the network...
this episode I found rather dragging and kind of immaturely expecting an enormous viewer connection with Jericho. The big 'revelations' didn't seem as big as they were showing them... and there was just waaaay too much indy-band background music going on in the last 15-20 minutes. Couldn't care less really what the lyrics were, so I have no idea if the songs actually related to the scenes they were played in...
I really dunno how long this show will last. It's not the subject matter that has problems, it's the writing, the plot development... it just doesn't have the same level of intrigue, immersiveness, character connection, that say, Heroes or VM has...

when they started with the 'party', I almost thought they were pulling a Firefly, and were finishing off the series already - it was so dramatic it felt like a premature series finale Razz

here's hoping they raise the bar in the upcoming few episodes to keep the interest there.

Maybe they are trying to emulate the success of Lost, 24, Prison Break. Mystery, background stories, character past, a soap opera series instead of complete 44 minute episodes.

Looks like I'm in the minority - I like the show. It's not GREAT, but it's entertaining enough for a lead in to watching Lost right after... But then I've always been a fan of Skeet, and it's also funny watching them stumble over their Kansas references... Smile

I agree AngBa. I like it. I don't think it's great either, and suspect it won't make it past a season, but I'll watch it as long as it's on. Plus, yes, it's a great lead in to Lost.

Ang, I understand about the Kansas references. From what I can tell the bombs have somehow caused the state to become about 100 miles East-West (how can they be so close to Denver AND Witchita & Topeka? Is it that hard to pick a spot on the map and go with it? And the North-South distance seems to have gotten longer.

Exactly - It's not possible. That would mean that "Jericho" is about where Limon, COLORADO is - which is about an hour and a half west of Goodland, which is the last "major" (term used very loosley) Kansas town before you hit the Colorado border. Not to mention that Goodland is about 300 miles east of Wichita, and Topeka about an hour and a half northeast of that.

That being said (and that the drive from Wichita to Denver is quite possibly the most boring drive in the world), I can suspend reality for the sake of entertainment and watch Jericho.

You're right Lovek - I doubt it's back after this season, IF it makes it all of the way through.

Right, I won't let those inconsistencies bother me, but they were a little annoying. We'll just let them go... Smile

And yes, believe it or not I've done the Wichita to Denver trip more than once, and was kind of hoping for a nuclear blast about half way through. You know, just to have something to look at.

Jericho

Just a thought - It'd be cool if there was a slow reveal on this show that it actually a part of the terminator universe - you slowly see a few hints - a cyberdyne van here or there, vague reports of drones attacking people after the skynet nuclear war - and you eventually come to realise that this is the beginning of the war between machines and humans, and how it affects the citizens of jericho as they become embroiled in the John Conner led resistance. I'd watch it for that. It'd be even better if it caught people by surprise - it would double the audience when it became apparent that this was more than just a riff on the concept of Lost.

Sorry, this show jumped the shark for me when they flipped Dolby Noise Reduction switches to hear obscured background radio chatter as clear as day on a tape they got out of an airliner's black box.

You'd think a show about nuclear war in the US would be at least a LITTLE bit concerned about accuracy and integrity of plot points, especially where technology is concerned.

Confused

Yeah... that was bad....

I'd been wondering, ESPECIALLY after they've shown the outside of the Internet cafe, why they aren't using the Internet to get information. I mean, the 'Net was created SPECIFICALLY for this puprpose. Have they explained this?
