[SILLY] You know when you have been spending too much ... You know when you have been spending too much time / money on Perplex City when...
Prompted by the other silly thread and its discussion of helicopters (its not just me then) I thought it was about time this venerable elder topic of discussion forums reared its mighty head.
Onwards, to reveal your most embarassing disconnection with reality:
- You hear a helicopter and your very first thought is about PPC.
- You embarrass yourself once again by having to explain to your colleagues after yelping / sobbing / laughing at the latest plot twist.
- You start adding references in your replies to 15 month old posts.

-You insist to your friends that they stop running BOINC clients like Folding@Home and run a lifesaving code cracking program called the 13th labour instead?

- You see something in the street, shout "OMG ITS THE CUBE", snarl some, run outside, and pick it up to find it's a dead possum.
...What, that's not happened to anybody else?
...Or me?
...What the heck is a possum anyways... *shrugs*

I was in LA for a couple of days after the SF event, freaking helicopters going past every minute, that and all sorts of sirens.
At one point I thought that the wormhole from PXC to North America might still have been active...

And did anybody else notice that the whole 3P disruption thingy happened at the same time as all the airline problems?

When you realize you have spent too many hours on Shuffled, all other text becomes a garbled mess and all you can think of is there another way it can be done
*SHOUTS we need another clue!!!!
Wave 4 was a welcome break from the madness of shuffled now it has been all but conquered its back to the same old few cards
*Trawls through the internet to find a hair grow formula to grow back hair fast so can pull it out again

You know you're spending too much time posting on a Perplex City board when you make a topic about spending too much time thinking about Perplex City.
...Or when you post in a thread about spending too much time thinking about perplex city.
......Twice.

Well, you've probably got the same dress sense.
Someone post that photo again?

- When the only new shirts you have are the plain white ones you bought to make PerplexCity Cube Hunter Logo Shirts.
- When for every pack you've ever bought, a helicopter flies over head.
- You wake up at 3 in the morning just to check up and see if anyone has solved Shuffled yet.
- You wake up at 4 in the morning to write down another Shuffled Theory that crossed your mind.
- You wake up again at 5 in the morning because the sound of Helicopters startled you.

... when you solve a Silver card.
... when you write a computer program/script to solve a card.
... when you take photos of your PXC Creations (paper cranes, cootie catchers, odd cubish things, card towers, etc.)
... when your every excuse to go to the coffee shop is you're going to meet up with other cube hunters.
... when you ride your bike down to the Egyptian museum and ask if someone can translate #219 The Master of Secrets for you.
... when you start wondering whether you can afford textbooks if you buy another box.
... when you wish there were more pictures of Scarlett on her myspace.
... when your band is named "Roll For Damage".
... when you can recite all the skills and facts you've learned from solving Perplex City cards (including: reading bee dances, making paper cranes, recognizing drugged spiderwebs)
... when, every abstract picture you see forms itself into a cube, in your mind.
... when you know the names of several Mind Candy employees off the top of your head.

- When you start thinking that an everyday piece of cardboard has "special features",e.g. UV, Microdots, Heat sensitive, glow in the dark, etc. The stupidity comes when you actually try to solve the piece of cardboard on perplex city and find that it has no code and that Mind Candy will not replace it.
- When you constantly feel that someone else is watching you, apart from the government, the CIA, the FBI and the random passers-by.
