[POLL] SF event/aftermath poll

As the dicussion keeps growing about PXC and its future, I'm really interested in what people have to say, for a real tally, about the whole SF event and its subsequent silent aftermath.

I think maybe we need two polls - one for the online event and one for the actual event in SF.

The online event was a complete let-down, I felt. It could have been a good event - perhaps if they'd told us which questions we'd ANSWERED instead of letting us just randomly try questions (Still annoyed about that.) - and if they'd not promised us that it was going to be an uber-awesome event with... super... futuristic tracking... and.. tags... and live video feeds... etc.

They failed to deliver.

I can only speak for the online people, though.

I was in one of the ground teams at the Live event, to be honest, it was kinda fun running around SF trying to find things. Some were too easy, and others we couldn't find the answer to... Hell, much like the online guys, we still don't know the answers to some of the puzzles we were given...

In that case would you rather them just not be as ambitious next time? Personally I'd like people to judge this one on what they actually got in the end, and compare and contrast with previous events, rather than just be disappointed that it didn't live up to the hype. I agree, it didn't, I was expecting more, but I still had fun with what we had, and it was miles better than what had been provided for previous events - thus I'm not complaining.

rach =)

I don't mind them being AMBITIOUS, but it's just when they publically tell us that we WILL be having ____, and we WILL be having _____, seemingly without testing/organising it beforehand. I can't speak for any of the other events they've organised (I only joined recently) but compared to the only other event I've been a part of (Silburn-Griggs), it didn't seem as good =)

I won't complain further - I think Mind Candy is doing an awesome job with the events they do, and they've created an awesome ARG deal with PXC.

If you really want to compare and contrast previous events then there's only a coupld of people that's been to more than one (well if you're counting the clapham event, then maybe more than 2).

I think the SF event went quite well. I wasn't privy to the online stuff, so I'm talking about the ground event. Sure some things went wrong (live chat and RFID) but seeing as they were trying something new I can easily chalk that one up to the "something went wrong on the day" column and leave it at that. I have enormous respect to MC for laying on this event. Like quite a few people said, its 5,000 miles away. Only a small part of the MC team went out there and you know what? bad stuff happens sometimes (you know the phrase I want to put but I figure I shouldn't use bad language)

Was it on par with Clapham? I think it was better, more organised (we had 2 helicopters this time!)

What about PCAG London? I think it was on a slightly smaller scale. I think Mind Candy could see this as the registrations didn't max out in 1 day or so... Also there was a lack of volunteers for the event (Lhall has done a sterling job, she's travelled more than me for PXC and hasn't even taken part, only volunteered!) So anything they could have done was slightly limited in that respect. Also they used a fairly large section of the city for the event, not the 3 landmarks that the PCAG used, granted there isn't so much of SF that I can think of that could have done it. Also with SF not being in MC's back yard, it would be slightly harder to formulate all the questions unless they had taken a fact finding tour beforehand...

However, I'm glad that MC ran an event in the US, which was their second may I add. MC are doing their best to make the game global in my eyes, there's been one on each coast so far, PCAG New York and the San Francisco Connection.

Bump.

I'm kind of surprised at the results so far, either feelings have mellowed since the event and people are generally feeling it was better than they originally thought, or the people that didn't like it are just more verbal and now not voting =P

Either way, interesting.
