Live Event Teams - Start Forming We need to set up teams to scout parts of town, those of you who are going to be here in SF please let us know...otherwise we are going to be spending too much time setting teams the day of the event. We need to come up with a plan that will get us to where we need to go without spending too much time. I don't know about you guys, but I don't want to say goodbye to Perplex City so we should be acting now instead when they are needing our help tomorrow!
I am going to be there tomorrow. Who else is? And who else has been working on the Von riddle? I think I know my whole route for tomorrow already. '=)
Let's get going guys, Perplex City needs us!

move to Perplex City: Questions/Meta I think we need to consider teams as task-specific, by which I mean not-competative with each other, but focusing on specific goals that would be set-out tomorrow at the briefing.
Let's get a listing of resources (car, bike, GPS, wireless) and a list of people who will be available online.
Expect to use #syzygy for coordination between online participants, cellphones and other wireless to field teams.

I didn't mean anything competative, that would get in the way of the real problem. I just want to make sure that we complete all of our tasks tomorrow with no problem.....Or as little problems as possible.

Can someone point me to the map that von's riddle lead us to?

We have two threads now for this now, so I'm just gonna let the mods decide what's best and I'm putting this here
Since I don't really know how this is going to work on Sat. lets just go with some basic team-like ideas:
Lets try to keep teams size small enough so they can travel as one unit. ie. no more than can fit in a car. I figure this will be the best way to maximize the number of teams, but we can always just go with what feels right.
Lets designate at least one person per group to deal with communication. We can trade cell numbers on Fri or Sat so that we reach other groups if need be.
Also, we will probably need to be in contact with someone online via phone. Post here if you are going to be online and want to be a contact!
I know I will have a car there, so I can stay at my car double-parked blocking traffic and pissing off drivers while the rest of the team does something, no problem. I'm also not too worried about getting completely organized online right now as I think a good amount of people will be at Endgame tonight and we can use that time to plan when we're all together. However, the one thing I think we need to nail down are people who will be online and want to be a direct contact to a team in the field.
So if you're going to be online for the event and want to be a relay for a team in SF, either post here and we can get you hooked up with someone, or if you know someone already going organize it between yourselves and then let us know here.

I'll definitely be online for the event. But erm I'm in the uk...so someone else Stateside can be phone relay. I doubt we'll need to collaborate with the ground teams much though.
This is going to be fun.

mIRC, don't fail meh now!
Here's a thought: how's 'bout we rig some stuff up with Ventrilo and/or Skype? Words can only be typed so fast. Plus, it would be cooler, and all spy-movie-esque and such.
I'm sure enough of us #syzygy peeps have microphones to make it worth the time for at least one of the two. Obviously, to be used in conjunction, not as replacement. Anybody up to put the work in? I would, but I have a lot of being lazy to do.

Looking for a team of fellow britons!!! -Team Nora- Anyone interesting in joining a team? Perhaps anyone I saw at the launch party??
EDIT - merged into pre-existing "Team Formation" thread. We really don't need 80 threads on this. -SG

I will be there tomorrow, hopefully with several friends that I am introducing to PXC. We should have a car also.
Is everyone just meeting at the palce of fine arts around 10 30 or is there an unofficial pre-event gathering anyone knows about?

I'm not sure this is a great idea, could you imagine 30 people all trying to speak at once, I think IRC is a better idea, and you get logs.

I don't know about Ventrilo, but Skype conferences are limited to 5 at a time so that's not as much of a problem. Just a lack of communication between patches of 5, I imagine that might get awkward.
That said, I'm willing to give my new headset a whirl, so if anyone does set a conference up I'd be happy to try it out. But if I recall, plans for this for past events didn't work out.

Hmmm my appologies everyone... It seems my post for a british team has been moved to the Live Event thread (rather annoyed considering its COMPLETELY different to what I am looking for!) I am not spamming here... I did have another thread, so again. My appologies.

We'll use Teamspeak, like we did before, I guess.
