On the online event, I think I got 4 first solves, but well done SF people. However. Now, the race is on.

The online event was real fun!
Did a few first solves but in the last hour or so was mostly busy keeping a list of still unsolved clues and posting them in irc. The online puzzlers sometimes went through new clues SO fast that it was hard to even keep up with the clue numbers being solved and posted!
It was especially hectic at the end when finally the clue page only showed the clues that were un solved (instead of all clues). That happened when group 7 finally reached the threshold (with only 15 mins to go or something). Its like they all went into warp speed or something because it seemed like an impossible task to solve most of these leftover clues in just a few minutes. I also saw the 97-98-99-100 thingy by resfreshing the progress page. Man that was tense!
I also thought the whole on-front-page-of-digg -> many hits -> off-front-page-of-digg was kinda funny. But that whole episode gave us the extra unique hits we needed I think. And the no-answer-bug was I must say very quickly fixed (kudos to the programmers at MC). Man things went fast at certain points!
I enjoyed it a lot! Also much respect for those insanely fast solvers out there.

I hate to disagree on that, but I do.
The online event was VERY boring, solving random questions, many multiple times, without knowing which were solved and which weren't. Doing the same thing for 4hours and a 1/2. The best part about it was the teamspeak server which was fun though and with only a few of us in there active it wasn't too hectic either.
I'm still annoyed by the live video feed never apearing

Not to mention that most of the questions were brainlessly Googlable. I envy those who thought this was fun and exciting and intense - you have a far more superior imagination than I.

Maybe because this was my first online event I was easely satisfied.
Sort of liked the whole time pressure and trying to coordinate and stuff. I was simply entertained by it all. What can i say? Don't think you can expect very hard puzzles given the timeframe. It had to be mass scale so everybody could do first solves. This ment there had to be many puzzles. So they had to be simple.
I thought the puzzles and the entourage were suitable to the type of event.

I think this paragraph sums up perfectly what went wrong in my opinion
The Perplex City Academy originally designed this website as part of the celebrations surrounding the San Francisco Connection. The idea was that the connection would be activated by people on Earth collectively completing a series of puzzles and games. Some of these are based on the ground in San Francisco - you can watch a live webcast of their efforts on Saturday beginning from 11am PDT and also talk with them - and some are accessible online here.
It says here a few things we didn't get, the live webcast never apeared, the only way we could talk to players on the ground was using mobiles and things.
I still had fun for part of it but after 5 hours I was VERY bored and was hoping for more than a 3min clip from sente.

While I totally see your point, I actually found it pretty enjoyable. This was probably because I turned up in the last hour and a half, when most of the questions were solved.
And probably also because, let's face it, I'm not much good at a lot of the puzzles we have to do for PPC - something Googlable was right up my alley.

Thanks for those videos Brian! A great way to relive the highlight of the day. For those who weren't there, keep in mind that 1) you can't really hear the cell phones in this video, but every phone rang at the same time, and 2) there's about 20-30 rows behind this camera of people running out of the auditorium. It was quite a rush!
Thanks again Brian!

That is perfect.
Some solves were being accepted after the official close, but I think when they drove us into the theater they cut things off. And I see reports of other numbers, but onsite (on the status image projected on the wall all afternoon), the offline team finished at 90%. Maybe a couple extra solves were let in after that.
