Glad to see this come back... that whole perpetual motion thing is going nowhere.

I can't see the movie... what is it about?

Here is the song lyrics.

where are we?
what the hell is going on?
the dust has only just begun to form
crop circles in the cockpit
sinking, feeling

spin me 'round again
and rub my eyes,
this can't be happening
when busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy

hide and seek
trains and sewing machines
all those years
they were here first

oily marks appear on walls
where pleasure moments hung before the take over,
the sweeping insensitivity of this still life

hide and seek
trains and sewing machines (you won't catch me around here)
blood and tears
they were here first

ooom what'dcha say,
emmm that you only meant well?
well of course you did
ooom what'dcha say,
emmm that's all for the best?
of course it is
emmm what'dcha say?
hmmm that it's just what we need
you decided this
mmmm what'dcha say?
hmmm what did SHE say?

ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
midsweet talk, newspaper word cut outs
speak no feeling
no, i don't believe you
you don't care a bit,
you don't care a bit

(hide and seek)
ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
midsweet talk, newspaper word cut outs

(hide and seek)
speak no feeling
no, I don't believe you
you don't care a bit,
you don't care a bit

(hide and seek)
oh no, you don't care a bit
oh no, you don't care a bit

(hide and seek)
oh no, you don't care a bit
you don't care a bit
you don't care a bit

So, the song name is Hide and Seek -- H and S -- HandS

I completely missed that! I was trying to think about what "hands" had to do with any of this.

According to iTunes Music Store, the video isn't the normal Hide and Seek music video.

Movie spoiler follows:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The bulk of the video, Nola, features a ballerina doll trying to escape from her shadow, which seems to become autonomous and grow claws. The video also has a recurring motif of CG human faces. After the music video ends, a CG render of the board game Mouse Trap is shown, but the shadow cuts in briefly. There follows a long period (about 2:30) of black, and the song cuts in briefly.

So, at this point, do we think the video was created specifically for the game? Why would Trey want IFPV to be associated with the video?

One more, er, request... can we keep the movie spoilers well indentified (and hidden)? I do want to see it.

Don't ask me, but in my email to him I did ask about the video. Maybe he'll have some answers.

Glad to see this one isn't dead. I sent an email to Trey as well, even though he hasn't answered any of my other ones, asking a few questions about the movie and offering help in finding any missing bits there may be. We'll see if he replies.

On a slightly related note, if nothing else comes of IFPV, I will at least have found a cool band with a good sound to listen to.

Well that didn't come out right... I mean spoilers about the movie... as in movie theater movie, not the video on the website.

No problem. My little synopsis probably should have been in spoiler tags anyway.

I don't know about the music, but the visuals of the video are old. I know I've seen that ballerina before, and the mousetrap video is available online somewhere. (In a quick search, I found a similar mousetrap animation in a sampler for some 3-D software package. I'll keep looking for our specific mousetrap and the ballerina later.) There still may be a reason why those specific clips were chosen, why they were spliced together, and why that music is playing. I have no opinion about what it all means.

(edit: Thank you understress for saving me the trouble! I *knew* they would have been part of SIGGRAPH, but I never would have guessed 2001 -- maybe that's a clue?)

There is a longish empty part in the end of the video, something missing from there..?
Perhaps if the original video had those parts, or the video needs some kind of fixing?

IFPV has been updated. Not sure what it all means but I sent an email volunteering.

Same here, on all counts. Here's hoping that this leads somewhere, it seems interesting.

It seems wildbrush energy is a real company, so i'm not sure what to do now besides wait for a reponse to my request for more information about volunteering.
