Hi Pam,
Sam here. Just wanted to touch base with you about the events of this
weekend
of everything going on here in Aglaura. It's almost hard to believe,
but things
just keep getting crazier and more hectic.
I'm not sure when I wrote to you last, because of corresponding with so
many
people, so you may already know what's going on here with the Sons of
Don Grand
Jury investigation. But if you don't - the entire Aglaura government
was
basically indicted, er, I'm sorry, subpoenaed last week. That's had
everyone
around here in full-scale "panic mode", as the Mayor and the town's
attorney,
JD Willingham, have been secluded in their offices ever since, making
time only
for the Aglaura council members or other attorneys, and any
investigators
asking to talk to them. Unfortunately, Dale was one of the people
subpoenaed,
because of being a Council member. He avoided the subpoena for a few
days but
realized it was unavoidable in the long-run and allowed himself to be
served
this weekend. I don't think we'll know the details of how or when he
will be
involved for a little while yet, though. Speaking of which, Doug
Willingham has
also warned me to be prepared to be involved in the Investigation also,
because
of my position as the Network Admin for Aglaura. I guess if there's any
questions regarding computer records or data, they may call me in. Oh
joy.
You also may know that Dale and I went out to the Aglaura Hiking trails
on
Saturday, to try and see what we could find using the message from
Sarah on the
weird disc and the Trail map from the Diana's Grove rec area. We
started at the
Grove itself, and followed the main trail across the highway and over
to the
eastern side of town, where they turn north and run up along town and
all the
way up to Del Doyle's bogs. Some of the forested area is really thick,
and the
trail areas that haven't been cleared out by the recent activity of
Aglaura
volunteers, are very overgrown. This made for some slow-going in some
areas,
especially when we branched off the main trail to try and find the
possible "seventh Pleiades" area, where so many people have written us
and
suggested the next item or message from Sarah may be hidden. Dale and I
were
actually both surprised to find evidence that others had been back in
that same
area recently, along the deserted old historical paths. Even though I'm
certainly not an outdoorsman in any sense of the word, there were clear
indications that people had been through this area not too long ago -
recently
broken branches, footprints in dried mud (remember all the rain we
recently
had?), and so on. Dale became upset, thinking that these people might
be
looking for the same thing we were and saying we shouldn't have waited
so long
to go out
there and start looking. Anyway, it started getting too dark before we
found
anything of importance, including any signs of a seventh picnic area or
place
that looked promising. But we didn't get through the entire area
either, that's
for sure. Dale was planning on going back there yesterday briefly,
before he
went out to Ash Grove Park with Dr. Kendra from that Klepsydra place.
Speaking of which, I did talk to Dale only briefly last night by
telephone.
He's been staying over at Wes Keeler's place while Wes was on another
little,
ah, excursion. He was obviously upset by whatever happened during the
day
yesterday and said he needed to rest, but he did mention a couple of
things to
me. He wasn't able to find anything new out along the Hiking Trails,
but didn't
have much time to look around because of the trip to Ash Grove Park. He
wants
us both to go back out to the Trail area as soon as possible. Also, and
I still
don't know what to make of this, he said that he and Dr. Kendra
actually found
the amusement park down there, where he swears the cemetery was on
their last
visit. He didn't really want to talk about what happened in detail
though and
promised to tell me more today. It seems like both he and the doctor
were
somewhat shaken up by what they found.
I have to get back to work. The last thing we need around here right
now is a
scandal about Aglaura employees spending too much time and resources
sending "personal" e-mails from work.
