i called for one of these and the guy told me i was registered to recieve it. My neighbor got one today but he moved, so i grabbed his. Anyways, i was curious when mine was coming, so i called marlboro, but they're saying that i'm not registered....i'm kinda pissed off because you have to be registered in order to start a team...
If anyone needs a team member, please let me know

I got mine in today - I got it by calling the 800 number. Now I need 3 others who want to do it - it is mostly word puzzles - with locations as the answers - they require Photos of some of the answers, but anyone who fills out the registration to be on a team will get a packet too. They plan to mail them out around Nov. 1st. Answers need to be in by dec 18th.
I am already working on the answers - most are fairly simple - some are ??? - they say the clues are tough - but they haven't dealt with the UF folks LOL
PM me if you want to be on a team - I don't care if you smoke or not - just say what you need to - the 4 way split of 1 mil after taxes - Sweet!

Outwit the West 3 I got my packet in the mail, because I did the second one and my teammates that yr got one too. I got new teammates, because a lot has happened since the last one and I couldnt stand if I had the same people again. My teamate has the question book right now. Is there anywhere on the web posting the questions. I am not looking for answers just some of the questions so I can help search for the answers until the extra sheats of questions come. I don't think you have to be a heavy smoker to particapate. It just said smoker so that could mean social smoker as well as one that smokes off and on. Also is there an offical site for the Outwit the West contest this time, and if so what's the web address?

The big problem I have with this game is that it says you must be a smoker.
You didn't have to be a Volvo driver to play the Pirates of the Carribean game.
You don't have to drink Coke to register on their site and cash in the Coke rewards points.
They're requiring you to use, and I assume prove you use the product in order to participate in the game.

As I understand it, it's because they're not allowed to promote smoking, so all cigarette company competitions can only promote the brand, not the act. If you don't smoke you either stay away, or take a risk and pretend.

But... aren't they promoting the 'act' of smoking if you must be a smoker in order to participate?
"Hey, looks like a cool game. Oh, I have to be a smoker to play it? Well, maybe I'll just try one cigarette...."

Even for Cathy's Book which I've railed at for inappropriate product placement, you don't have to use their cosmetics to play. So although I'm still repulsed by money changing hands to promote cosmetics to teenage girls in 'literature', they have to rate as less offensive than this game.

Money did not change hands.

You MUST be a smoker because... all you liberal hippies will sue them for second hand smoke if they don't verify that you are already being exposed to the danger. You pansies are all about trying to take the million dollar prize, and when that doesn't happen, you all want to sue them for twenty million as a consolation prize. IT IS A CIGARETTE COMPANY!!! You wanna play the game and take the money, acknowledge who you are interacting with. It's a free country - you don't have to participate.

It's Illegal to HAVE to use anything to win a prize. In order to give something away, you have to make it free (that's why there are always disclaimers at the end of the ads saying "no purchase nessasary") or else it's considered gambling and must be regulated in all the states (or countries) it it played in. It's probably saying you need to be a smoker to register for Marlboro mailing list, but theres no way they would be able to not give you the money for not using their product...

This is really not in keeping with the mutually respectful atmosphere we like to maintain here at UnFiction, and moreover probably violates the Terms of Service you agreed to when you registered to use these forums. The TOS states "[i]n general, users should conduct themselves in respectful, appropriate ways that encourage inclusion and cooperation. Our users express a diverse range of opinion and knowledge, and disagreements can (and should) be handled in civilized ways."
You are free to state your opinion, but please do so without name-calling. The accusations and epithets are both unwarranted, and unnecessarily inflammatory.
Besides, when you resort to name-calling, it just makes your argument look weaker.
