By the way, IamNotNull, I was also toying with the idea that someone new had bought Sean's Name and company. (I think I mentioned it on the forum). But yeah, so I think that's a good theory.

I can't remember who said they didn't know if this was an ARG or not, but they felt sure it wasn't real. That's where I am right now.

Steorn was real at some point. Then someone, we don't know who, decided to make this claim, and wanted to use Steorn to do it. I can't help wondering if it couldn't be that Sean McCarthy wasn't bought, but was part of making the actual idea for this. It would explain why he was the CEO of real-steorn and fake-steorn. Whoever did this was very, very careful with the transition of power between real-steorn and fake-steorn, if this is an ARG, IMO.

Even if this isn't an ARG, I'll be following it carefully, just because the amount of detail for a fake claim amazes me. It amazes me so much, in fact, that I'm shocked that such talented forgers would have been silly enough as to put up fake news stories about themselves, but use the names of real papers with online archives to do it. That is, unless it is an ARG, and they wanted us to find it.

BTW, I was waiting to see if there would be any new clues when they translated the site to different languages, but as far as my poor German can tell, the pages don't have anything new.

I'll look at my cache and see if I have any of the pages from the now-closed areas of the site, and post them if I do.

I also found dubious looking source code in one of the formerly-open directories. (Dubious because it didn't fit any of the pages on the site.) It contained an email address, prSPLATsteorn.com, and I thought it was worth noting because I didn't see it referenced anywhere on the actual site. If I can find the source code in my cache, I'll post it here as well.
