Can't find anything interesting in the source, but the countdown has all the signs. Ominous dark background, red text, and an unexplainable countdown.

Well it looks like it was a not so popular gaming forum with a total of 16 registered users.
Now it looks like the owner is trying to capitalize on the fact that microsoft tends to release there big xbox products in November and is either trying to start some sort of game or just string some people along for a bit.
Something I find odd, why have a countdown timer if you have the text that says "Countdown To November 21, 2006, at 12:00"? Wouldn't that be sufficient without having the actual countdown.
One last thing how did your friend find this site and what made you think to post it here?

I dont know why, but the fact that it says exactly what date its counting down to takes some of the fun away. A countdown seems more mysterious if you dont know immediatly what date its going to, even if its fairly easy to calculate. I'm not expecting anything spectacular, thats for sure.
Not to mention, theres something about a "find" by a guest's "friend" that puts me off a bit.

It's possible it has nothing to do with an ARG at all. Perhaps the guy/girl/whoever running the forum decided, "Hey, this thing isn't doing so hot, so let's take it down, revamp it, and then launch it in grand XBox fashion!" Not saying it isn't a game, just saying it's also possible that it's merely a countdown to the relaunch of a failing forum.

I thinking something along the lines eon8. But like stated above I wouldn't hold my breath. Even eon8 was nothing spectacular.

For a social experiment that started out with just a few posts on random blogs, I thought it was great. It really is interesting to what people think of random mysterious countdowns.

Ever since Eon8 happened, people have wanted to recreate the one-of-a-kind atmosphere that surrounded eon8. Never have people been brought together in such a fashion over such a trivial silly little thing. Eon8 was truly 'The Night The Internet Got Pwned'.
