Featurama: Discussions, Cards & Magazines
23rd August 2006

Thank Gyvann it's Wednesday, folks, because do we have some new features for you!

First up, we've got an all-new Discussions feature that you'll find popping up all over the site. You - that's right, you - can post your witty and/or insightful comments on any card, tag or player. Other players can comment on your profile, too, but you can approve and reject these comments like a whimsical yet powerful demigod, protecting yourself from the scurrilous slander of the chattering classes. You can flag inappropriate posts anywhere on the site for our review, and every discussion topic has its own RSS feed, so you've no excuse not to get a-blathering!

As a result, some of the pages are now looking a bit different, but you'll find your way around in no time at all. In fact, with the help of our beautiful new Cards Page, it might even take a negative amount of time. Although that may cause all sorts of problems with space-time continuum, so best to avoid that... Anyway, it acts as a portal for Card Discussions, Corrections, Ratings and, of course, Purchasing The Sweet Puzzle Goodness From Your Friendly Local Retailer.

Speaking of purchases, there's a special addition to our Products page - a sneak preview of our forthcoming Board Game! Fresh from the brains of our crack puzzle squad, it's currently in production and will be on sale from October 2006. Then all you have to do is memorise all 1200 questions and answers before the big Christmas Day face off.

Due to the multitude of new features, we have added several new FAQs to our list. If you have a question, please check there before emailing us - we only let Guy out if there are no Customer Support emails left unanswered!

And if all this discussion isn't enough, check out the Community News for a new episode of Ask Mind Candy and other goodies - including this ace page from jazzychad, that lets you chart your points progress over time.

Last but by no means least, there are Wave 1 - 3 packs mounted upon the covers of three glorious periodicals this month, namely PC Zone, BBC Mind Games Magazine and Scrye Magazine. So now the thrifty among you can snag yourself a bargain!

As always for the full list of updates, please check our forums. (Having problems with the new features? Let us know at websiteSPLATperplexcity.com.)

The aforementioned Community News does indeed have a new Ask Mind Candy, as well as all the rest of this:

Ask Mind Candy: Episode 2
23rd August 2006

Episode 2 of Ask Mind Candy is here! Featuring kittens, poetry and much more besides, the floppy-haired one (as he now seems to be known) is back.

Just play the video above - or try the YouTube version if you've got the bandwidth blues. Also, you can now subscribe to Ask MC as a video podcast, or sign up for our YouTube channel if you prefer.

Here's the candidate theme tunes submitted by our dear players - declare your vote in the Ask Mind Candy thread on the Perplex City Forums!

Scribe's Acoustic Theme

Scribe's Acoustic Theme (Withnail Sped-Up Mix)

Scribe's Punk Theme

MikeJ's Rock Theme

Lysithea's Muzak Theme

Lysithea's Cutesy Theme

Dragonscales' Plinky Theme

Don't forget, you can vote for your favourite, submit your madcap ideas for Mind Candy bonding, and post your questions in the Ask MC forums thread. Keep your eyes peeled for an extra-long post in the near future, where Guy will be answering some of the remaining questions via the noticebly quicker-to-produce medium of text.

Finally, have a wild (and perhaps) lucky guess as to the whereabouts of the Receda Cube with the WhereIsTheRecedaCube Frappr map! Make sure that your pin clearly includes your username. You'll have to wait until the Cube is found to find out how close you were, of course, but the winner will be showered with trinkets, the loser will be affectionately teased, and we'll see how close the "average guess" came to the truth.

Graphtacular! Perplex City Beached! An Unconventional Swap!
23rd August 2006

Jazzychad, Perplex City player par excellence, has created a nifty new page, allowing you to track your point-scoring progress over time. Whether you're lightning-fast or a lazybones, it's bound to assuage your inner statistician. You do have an inner statistician, right?

Luke, aka Daemon, sends us this beautiful if wholly temporary piece of Perplex City inspired art - kudos to you, good sir! Link to picture

Meanwhile, SteveC has managed to get hold of an uber-rare #257 Gold Card and P01 promo card, most recently seen going for alarming amounts on eBay. But get this - he's willing to swap them for a non-puzzlecard, non-cash item that you have to offer. "Be as creative as possible, the choice may be made for comedy value rather than monetary value," he says - make your offer here.

Think that about covers everything!

I'm slightly concerned that I've posted this first - usually loads of people have got there before me. I guess everyone must be having their tea/at work/having a social life/asleep..........

EDIT: added links to various pages. Lots of links. Sorry for ones I've missed.
