[Website] 307 (three-o-seven)

Updated.

307 Symbol

Click on a dot and read an interesting story about a nurse who is working at Greatwater General.

Here is how it starts:
Quote:
I know, I know, this is all going to sound crazy but hang with me, alright? This piece of paper is where it all began. Well no not really, I mean, the 3-0-7 thing began long ago, but that's not what I'm talking about now. It's this symbol, and the way the numbers are right in there, were right in there, when I found it. On March 7th of all days. March 7th - 3/07

On page 2 of the story we get this logo at the top:
bandlogo

Quote:
If you really want to go back (and this is what makes the whole thing so creepy weird) my history with the number 307 goes back to high school, where as a freshman I read this freaky book about an island........
......So when I started up a band a couple of years later, that name popped in my head when we were arguing over what to call it. As usual, I ended up getting my way and we were soon called 307.

Quote:
You can see in the little drawing I've made above the approximate location of the shack in which I found the paper.

This website was found in the original CTW after graffitti was spray painted around Aglaura. That circle with the three dots on the left and the seven on the right is also seen in the comic book on the last page of the story (just before the page with the police report).

Last month when we were looking around the old sites, the spray painted version was showing (so we knew that this site was not "deactivated").

When stuff went live last night, we were going through all our old sites to see where the updates were happening and I noticed this one had changed. Why and where it is going, not sure. Could even be a red herring. Here is some 307 stuff in the archive. Meanwhile, the nurse tells an interesting story.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what exactly the symbol is? I have been trying to fit the numbers 3, 0, and 7 in everywhere but they don't seem to fit.

I don't yet have the comic book but maybe the symbol really does belong to a cult or something...for all I know what happened in the book mentioned by the Nurse was true and some of the immortal people survived and made their way to Aglaura.

Who was it that broke the universe?

Cryptic, the symbol (sans the numbers in the middle, I believe) was spread around as graphitti (sp?) in the First CTW, by what was called Dead Eyed Guys (DEG's). It was to mark someone of interest to them, someone who has gotten close/is searching for the truth about the goings on at the time. Pretty much anyone who was A) Important to the story or B) Playing the game.

It very well could be. As I said, I don't believe all that junk in the middle was there last time. I was just saying what it used to be, if it's anything different this time around.[/b]

A new link has been added to 307. Looks like we might get to see some pictures soon.

Even better.

I'm also interested in the encounters with Dale & "Meg".

Quote:
I finally managed to get one younger person to talk to me, a young girl who was at the diner with her father. They were at the table next to me and I guess she saw me holding that damn piece of paper in my hand while they were eating. When her old man got up to use the bathroom, she stood up and came over to my table and said, "Oh, you've seen it too." I didn't know what to say and didn't even have time to think of a response before Dad returned and said, "Meg, let's go," while giving me the old "you better not be some kind of child molester" look.

Quote:
I saw that girl from the diner, the one who asked me about the 307 paper a while ago. The one whose Dad gave me the old hairy eyeball, even though she came up and started talking to me. She was at the store with dear old Dad again and he didn't look too good. Not that I'm one to talk about appearances, but that guy's got some problems. Wouldn't you know it, the girl stopped and smiled and waved at me too. I got the Hell out of there before even waiting to see if the old man had noticed. I think I'd rather face the woods.

A few more things...

If you look at the 307 band graphic closely, the logo looks an awful lot like the word "BOY" as well. Reading the "encounters" page, Dale thinks back on his encounter with the young girl first in the Diner?? and then at the CVS Pharmacy while purchasing a camera.

The circle can represent spirituality, much as it does in pagan and other cultures, eternity of spirit. The masks stolen from the Library-- represent animal powers and instincts. The quartered-circle with the arrow might be some sort of representation of the earth-- as the pagan symbol for earth is just a quartered-circle. Not certain at all what the addition of the arrow would symbolize.

Something interesting I found online, however... and this might be just coincidence (and probably is) is that Whittier College has a secion on Anthropological Myths and Symbols. It's section 307: Myth, Symbol and Meaning.

That's all I have right now, which isn't much at all. Just something for people to chew on.

Spuds - the "nurse" is not Dale. I don't think we have a name for him yet. Perhaps we can figure out an email and contact him?
