Oh, and those "exercises" that she's supposed to learn, and her Mom will help her?

They're called Kegels.

I'm just starting to catch up on this, since I've been vacationing.

Quick "This reminds me of..." references:

Rosemary's Baby - but a bit obvious, but you get the idea. It may be more similar to its sequel, Son of Rosemary
Harvest Home - I like this comparison best. I predict the end of the boyfriend as he films.

I'm leaning more and more towards a Rosemary's Baby rip-off. The BF is too good, protesting too much. She lends a nice air of menace to the vids, tho, by saying things like "bash their heads in" and implying that she's being taken out somewhere to her doom. Nice pseudo-foreshadowing.

Also interesting: the repetition of the gentle joke of "Proving Science Wrong." If I were writing this, I'd make sure that the same theme came back later on, as it got more serious.

I was wrongly expecting this to necessarily involve Satanism. Instead, maybe this is more likely. The places that she's been correspond nicely with locations of international grand lodges.

Lastly, as I catch up, I found a nice extraneous portion of the NY Times that may be helping propagate this.

Virginia Heffernan's not behind it - she's just caught up in the mystery. She's been actively investigating, was interviewed on the NPR On the Media piece, has been posting on the LG15 forums, etc. I don't think she's been "compromised."

After digging around this thing off and on for a few days I am at a point where I must agree with Heffernan, Flemming looks like the the logical culprit, it "fits" with him and his "The Beast" film, granted that doesn't account for Crowley...

Flemming also mentions Gibsons book Pattern Recognition in his last blog post, a good Gibson book if you havent read it, which came to my mind when I first started digging around.

Here are the tasty bits from a Amazon review
Quote:
Pollard is among a cult-like group of Internet obsessives that strives to find meaning and patterns within a mysterious collection of video moments, merely called "the footage," let loose onto the Internet by an unknown source. Her hobby and work collide when a megalomaniac client hires her to track down whoever is behind the footage. Cayce's quest will take her in and out of harm's way in a high-stakes game that ultimately coincides with her desire to reconcile her father's disappearance during the September 11 attacks in New York.

The footage from the book is nothing like what lonelygirl15 is doing, they were seconds of footage, actually kind of like what the Lost Experience is doing now with the glyph hunt.

Anywhos...also she has a thrown us a new curveball that seems to dilute the storyline to me, anyone else feel that the latest development with the teacher rumor waters down the plot?

That's a strange plot twist....wondering if they're tring to throw in something like that to create the illusion that Bree is a real kid. It also helps to reinforce her isolation from the rest of the community (everyone "rejected" her for being smart and beautiful).

It could be Flemming, but I don't see how the blog post referencing Pattern Recognition implicates him. When I wrote my first blog entry (http://chutry.wordherders.net/archives/006303.html) on the topic (admittedly a bit recently), I'd planned to mention Pattern Recognition.

On a more humerous note, this is totally my favorite lonelygirl parody. I really think it deserves more views... ARG & SAG Monkeys FTW Smile

And make sure you watch the two follow up videos as well... Very Happy

And for the conspiracy theorists: The videos are very well made... enough to consider them created by the original lonelygirl source perhaps. LonesomeOctober joined youtube just to post these three videos, with the join date on the profile saying 3 days ago, but the first video was posted 5 days ago. Additionaly, LonesomeOctober shows considerable knowledge about the entire situation Wink

Now fess up, which one of you made that? Totally an inside job!

Whoa! For a hand-puppet, that Owen sure emotes well! Smile

I also like this one (which obviously gets enough views as it is, though)...in a nonsensical but intelligent Vaudeville-Stylee!

With the quality of the recent parodies and discussions on this, fortunately there's no need to watch the source material...IMHO Bree's character is a teensy bit on the obnoxious side...

Great page of info you have chutry, I highly recommend check out the site! It's amazing how much real world press this thing is getting, thats what intrigues me more then lonelygirl15 herself.

And as for the Flemming bit, I didn't mean so much that his Pattern Recognition post implicated him, just the parallels between lonelygirl15 and The Beast. I know he has stated that he is not involved, but isn't it a given that whomever is involved wouldn't admit it?

Whomever is behind it has gotten the attention of several media followers and writers, which, again, is amazing to me given how little we have actually seen of lonelygirl15. I did actually watch some of the other top items on YouTube yesterday, and I can now understand why she is so popular on YouTube, most of it made me think of what it must be like to be a previewer of America's Funniest Home Videos submissions.

The creators of the videos just posted on the offical boards that Bree and Daniel are false, their fans seem a little upset.

http://www.lonelygirl15.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?t=36

It's amazing how they can be masters of the video short form and yet lack any clue as to how to build and sustain a community around the product they have created

You think the creators behind the experience posted that?

Why, because they registered an account on a forum under the username The Creators?

I think the LA times has the trump card.

Quote:
Using the software, the team was able to see that seconds before lonelygirl15 had sent the note, someone had looked at Seth's profile. This visit was the only one the profile had received in 17 hours, suggesting that whoever was at the controls of the lonelygirl MySpace account looked at Seth's page before sending the message.

The IP address of the user who sent the e-mail was the private server of CAA in Beverly Hills.

CAA is a big-name agent who also, coincidentally, represents 42 Entertainment.

Not only that, but there's an entire subforum called "Message from the creators," which would have required admin access to create.
