That is unfortunate, Esteed. Not to worry; I'm sure someone will report on it.
Enjoy your trip!
EDIT: I've attached my PDF presentation about exexexe.com.

I'm not sure that the letters you found need to be flipped 180 degrees....I can see an 'a' the right way up when i look at the background image. Also the 's' seems to be thinner at the bottom when viewed after flipping whereas you would normally expect it to be thinner at the top. Futhermore i can see a big 'd' in the bottom left of the background image with doesn't make any sense.
This could mean that your repeating pattern is bs8.
Also it might be just me but i can see the words 'without' in a couple of places in the background image.

Cool guys!
I was playing around on the www.commonspace.com site, and in the flash at the top, the background effects I could capture were:
Green: "Out of nowhere, at the middle from everywhere"
Blue: " Unlike them all, everyone gets more"
Red: " Communicate, connect and stimulate"
Then, there's a quick little flast in green of the word "peculiar".
They're probably just diversions, but that's what they say, FWIW...
ETA to remove me being an idiot.

Thanks for the comments.
Joe, I see those letters too - 'a', 'd', etc. I see a layer of "a s d f" repeating across the bottom edge of the background image of the index page. I think it's filler to distract the eye, for two reasons: the proximity of the letters on the keyboard makes me think the designer just rattled it off; and something I've just discovered - that layer of lettering is not present on the bottom edge of the background image of any other page on the site. All the other pages have only "PS8" across their bottom edge - or "8sd", "8sb", or "bs8" as you suggested.
I'm still attached to the idea that it's "PS8" because, I'll admit, that's the way my eye grouped it when I first saw it. I also think it's the simplest explanation. I could well be wrong. You may be right.
I see your "without", I think, across the top edge of the background image, and again behind the "exe" in the top left corner. I'm tempted to read the characters across the top edge as "without us [something] truth".
EDIT: The Commonspace countdown just reached 00:00:00:00:00 in my browser. I don't see any other difference.

I still show roughly 6 1/2 hrs, which would make the end time about 2pm CST. I"ll try and check in from work today, but I think this Friday is going to feel like a Monday.

My count down also says 00:00:00 with no changes. I signed up for the mailing list but have not received anything yet.

I'm still showing 3 hours. I signed up for the mailing list as well, and haven't heard anything...

Oddness.. I checked on my work PC and my home PC - I'm still showing 2 to be the end time - maybe they're just waiting for me to catch up with the rest of you

The coundown is javascript based which means that what you see is based on your individual system time.
Code:
var chinatime = new Date(2006,8,1,14,0,0)
currentDate = new Date();
targetDate = chinatime;
//alert(targetDate);
diff = targetDate.getTime() - currentDate.getTime();
if (diff < 0){
document.getElementById("counter").innerText = "00:00:00:00:000";
return;
}
It looks like the countdown will be until 2:00pm your local time, although to me it looks like it is counting down to 8/1 not 9/1, but it is working nonetheless. The fact that the countdown ends differently for all of us makes me wonder how this is gonna "start". The variable is called "chinatime" so maybe it is based on the time in China, however I believe it is 9/2 in China now because it is across the international dateline.

I guess nothing, as I've been down to 0 since 2:00 and nothing's changed for me either... Oh well

No, the variable is called chinatime because that is what it was called in ILoveBees -- they have lifted the code from ILB, in which the character Dana had a countdown on her blog for the number of days left before her vacation to China began.
And the month 0=January, 8=September, and 11=December.
