Project Crane - 333 cranes for Anna

333 Cranes for Anna was born on July the 30th, 2006.

At first there was Project Cranes : we wanted to send Mind Candy a present of 1000 paper cranes, as a bridge between here and Perplex City.

And then Anna Heath was murdered. She was a loved person, not a risk-taker, and still during her part of our investigations into the thefts commited at the Academy, she was killed. Nobody deserves death, and she deserved it even less.

As a sign of respect and mourning, we're changing Project Cranes details. From 1000, to 333 white cranes that will be sent over to the Heath family through Mind Candy as a sign of respect for a person that deserved so much of it.

So post here or PM me so I can add you to our list. 333 cranes from 333 people would be perfect, and we need you for this.

Can't fold cranes yet ? You can learn how to here :
http://cp.c-ij.com/english/3D-papercraft/origami/crane_e.htm

'Project Cranes' might or might not resume after that, that'll be decided in time.

Cranes count : 75/333
Nightingale, Izzy, Spugs, Mindros, Bookmore, Yembles, mqpippin.

Project status :
July the 26th, 2006 -
Putting up customization ideas up for vote !
July the 30th, 2006 - 'Project Cranes' becomes '333 Cranes for Anna'[/url]

I'll start with 50 cranes, so I can still carry them back to Paris without damaging them.

I'll get some coloured paper in the week. I think it's important to agree on a standard way to decorate a crane before we start though. For example, they will all have peoples pxc profile names plus a design of the makers choice etc.

As it'd be nice to have a recurring pattern...100- cranes, 1 community Wink

Sounds like a good idea to me ! I'll try to post a clean crease pattern tonight so the participants can download it, change it and put it up for votes.

Nice idea, although you may want to check with MC before bombarding their office with 1000 paper cranes, I'll have a crack at this too, should be able to knock a few up...

I'm back from my family obligations and am going to fix the crease pattern. Now, since we're starting with only a 1000, I suggest we wait until Monday morning to see how many we are then, and divide the cranes between all of us. Thoughts ?

EDIT : There's a crease pattern at the end of the PDF file to which I linked in the first post, and it's much cleaner than anything I could whip up ! You'll be able to train with it first, and then figure out which part of the paper can be modified so as to be visible once folded.

Would it be possible for me to sign up here? Admittedly, I live in Singapore, but I've done 1000 cranes before.

(Just my $0.02 - In any case, why not 10,000? 1000 doesn't take very long. (it took me about 2+ months, filled a shoebox with them) )

tbh i quite like the idea of hiding messages/signatures *inside* them, or at least in a bit that can be unfolded without ruining the crane, but still not so visible as on the wings. then the rest of the crane can just look pretty. i think the message of peace would do nicely, we could all send our own messages to PXC.

also, i still think 333 would be a nice number to do - if we could just get 333 people to do one each i think it'd be alot more meaningful than 10 or so of us doing loads each, but thats just my opinion.

rach =)

That's very kind of you, falqwin Smile I don't see a problem with it as far as I'm concerned, any kind of help would be highly appreciated I think.

After Rach's suggestion, I'm tempted to put the number of cranes to send up for vote. On the one hand, it is true that 333 makes more sense in PxC, on the other hand 1000 makes more sense in our world.

Diagnosis: You're all barking.

But as PxC seems to be doing a lot for charity at the moment, why don't you set up a just giving page and make one crane for every £1 sponsorship you get?

I'm up for this too, sounds like a fun idea. Was in Japan last year, some of the temples are covered in cranes. All different colours it looks amazing!
