I think the text as shown on the liki either loops or has the end of the last sentence at the beginning. How's this for a reading:

Things here in New York have been interesting. The world seems to be ready for our plan, Landa, and we are waiting for your end to finish up. Several countries have opposed our planned course of action however. The United States has been surprisingly noncompliant, as has China and Japan.

Needless to say, they know little about our plan to wrest control of internet resources from their current holders. They just don't understand the importance that such a system of control has. How can any functioning governing body not see the value of a worldwide method of controlling speech and the trade of information? A world government, or even many local governments, cannot function as is with the ability of people to freely trade information.

Things in the world are changing -- controlling information is where the real power is. As it stands right now, patriots with a keyboard have a power they can't possibly understand. They've already wielded the power before, and when they did, they felt it. They felt that they were equal -- that they had control over their governments and their politicians.

That feeling has caused elections to change, everywhere from Canada with AdScam, to Lebanon, with the Cedar revolution. It is this feeling that we must fight. When citizens feel empowered... when they feel equal... they can control us. They can control any government or corporation. It cuts through the apathy, and it cuts through the disunity. This sense cuts through the ability of the ruling people to tell those being ruled what they should think.

This internet is a dangerous thing, and it must be controlled -- the speech must be monitored. And that is why you must hold up your end, Landa -- you must deliver us the internet.

quite agreed as mentioned in irc. There's no fragment that has a clear beginning, and no fragment with a clear end. No matter how they're pieced together, it'll remain open ended. So the cutoff must be within the text at some point, most likely at the "Landa --" break which makes the most sense.

Well, if they would send me an email to either of the two I signed up with maybe I could contribute this assignment.

I think we need to have everyone to just verify that theirs isn't one of the (currently five) missing pieces.
Go to:
http://www.landa-systems.com/site/status.php to see how many are missing
and then check the message at:
http://www.landa-systems.com/site/missions.php
If it says, "You have no missions at this time.", they're not waiting for your submission. You either weren't sent an image or you replied with the correct string in a previous submission attempt.
If you get the submit box/button, it means you haven't replied to the peice of the puzzle they sent you or they didn't get the correct message from you and you need to resubmit it. Paste in the message you "extracted" from the image file you received, in its entireity.
For most of us, it was pretty clear where the plaintext started and ended.
EDIT: enerbrat. If you wait an hour or so, the submit box will reappear and you can enter your part of the UN message.

I've done this twice, and it continues to allow me to submit my answer. It's not accepting my extracted text. If anyone else can determine what the problem is, let me know.. maybe a trailing space needs to be added?

Looking at it in a hex editor, there's a "0A" immediately following the string.
So, since you've already sent it without the comma and with the comma and since most of the other messages had a space on their beginning and/or end which wasn't even included in the "extractable" text, my only guess would be that the line feed following the comma must be part of the message.

First time ARGer here after discovering that thehidingroom.com was not just one of those "try to escape from the room" things. Had no idea that ARGs existed, to be exact, but once I found out I became very intrigued and it felt like participating in an ARG would be a good way to put some more excitement and challenge into my world.

Anyways, I got on Landa Systems as a level 1 operative and when I go to the "current assignments" it does say that I am currently working on extraction. However, I have not received any emails. I first put down that I had a yahoo.com account, and then after reading these boards got an account at boardermail.com and inbox.com and of course "updated" my information on landa. None of these email accounts have received an email! I am wondering if perhaps I just need to get a new "operative name" and sign up all over again with one of these emails?

I'm not quite sure what to do here...I feel like I've done most everything I could...but still have not gotten anything. Confused

Anyone else?

London, have you submitted anything after changing your email? I have no idea how the scripting works on the backside of this thing, but I've submitted something like "changed my email again" every time I try a new address, in case the PM doesn't get notified when your contact information is updated.

Of course, maybe I'm just annoying the hell out of the PM by doing that. It doesn't seem to have actually worked yet. Very Happy

Alot of folks aren't getting the emails even after changing their address. Not sure what's going to happen for the next step, but for now, all we can do is wait and see what the PMs do.

Ok, I resubmitted it with a line feed at the end.
Let me do the same thing with a space at the beginning and the end. I dunno how many times I can submit it.

Well, the submit box has reappeared. And I hadn't recieved my email so I changed it to one at my personal site (which forwards to that email address I originally submitted) and am still waiting for my image to be sent.

Yes, I've hit the "update information" button afterwards. I don't know. It might be that I'm just terribly impatient!

Allrighty then. I guess I'll just sit back and relax until someone else discovers something new.
