The 4400 ARG: Potential Yet?
Is it OK to begin posting it here?

I think the subject/subject description say it all. We've been following clues since Saturday, and the game seems to be progressing nicely. Nothing too intricate, but a nice little something to pass the time with when you've got a few extra minutes. We've been consistently at the top of the News & Rumors forum, because there are frequent updates and clues.

There are updates daily, and the ARG is not really showing signs of slowing down. So far we've found two passwords (one by searching 43things.com for our lead's name and the other by noticing repetition of a word in blog posts.) We've followed an email clue that's been going on since the game began, finally ending several hours ago with the discovery of part of an image, which finally completes a jigsaw puzzle we've been working on for the past two days. We've played with color contrasts on seemingly innocent images, discovering a hidden website which led to a morse code message. We've discovered hidden text on a number of websites, always leading, always hinting, at something more.

I guess my question is, at what point does this stop being a rumor and become an ARG with potential? Unfortunately for the PMs I'm sure (and those playing), there are only a handful of players. I think if this were deemed an ARG with potential, many more people would be working on the clues and the game would be forced to progress faster. Also, if this game were to be allowed to be discussed on the ARGs WITH POTENTIAL board, people who are interested in finding a game to get involved with but don't have a lot of time to dedicate would be made aware of this ARG, which might be grassroots or might not.

Either way, I encourage you to check out the "Possible New ARG? For the 4400 TV Show" thread over at the News & Rumors section if you're looking for a game to get involved with.

At the very least, can you edit the title of the other one to something like "New ARG For The 4400 TV Show." I think when people see Possible, when this has proven itself to be more than a rumor, they are turned off.

And now you've stolen my last two pennies.

Thank you.

Well, actually the admins decide when to move something to potentials, and I'm not sure that this counts yet. But in any case, you can put in a request in the General Administration forum.

Locking for now, to keep discussion in one place, until it's decided.

Moved. And yes, these things generally get promoted based solely on whether or not a player asks for it (although not always, just to be spiteful). Nothing wrong with asking, therefore, although I might have PM'd an admin or posted to the General forum instead. But hey, that's how you learn. Smile

Welcome to uF BTW, 4401.

Smile Thanks a lot, ADMIN! Now we don't have to read through so many posts in one thread when there's an update!

*is very very happy.
